unbelievable. Do these people manage to live normal lives ?
How on God's earth can you predict they won't get injured?
Some people are more injury prone than others. Evans is a sick note. Hume is made of biscuits.

Still a bairn and will have a good career but he’s been poor recently, imo.
He hasn't been lately. First half performance there was good though
Hes looked good playing on left of back 3 today
young lads always blow hot and cold, consistency doesn’t just happen
Shades of Danny Rose in that regard IMO - if they excel there's a great short-term benefit, but the long-term means you're back on the market looking for their replacementHe was all over the place for their goal and for ten mins prior to that he kept doing the same thing (as he did for their goal). Otherwise he was better today but wouldn't particularly say he was good. Shape supported him better.
He's only a kid of course. If it wasn't for injuries and the need to change shape I'd give him a bit time out over xmas.
Which isn't too bad if you're developing your own player as there's a benefit to playing him to develop.
Developing someome elses to your own detriment is a different matter.

These deals need to really be feeding into a bigger partnership that gives the club a chance to sign other youngsters that won't be City's level or with a view to signing them long-term ala Hoffman.
Nowhere near good enough, or just a bit inconsistent? Not saying he’s garbage. He’s nowhere near ready to be starting every week for a team wanting promotion out this league though.
Oh yeah, totally agree Rose was exceptional, but I seem to remember MON fielding similar questions about 'is there an option to buy, why not?'Tbf Rose came in and was excellent. He was obviously at higher standard and further into his career but he justified his place week in week out pretty much.
Doyle hasn't. He's shown some good flashes and it's nice to have a cb so comfortable playing the ball about (even if sometimes it causes us problems) but he's not a particularly good defender (at this stage of his career anyway). There has to come a point where we need to decide if his development, or playing him into form, is more important than the clubs targets. 3 at the back looks like it will give him the extra cover he needs but it's a system to suit the injury list rather than one to remedy issues we've had performancewise.
At 17 he's playing too many games regardless of form as well imo
I personally think asking a player of his age to play this consistently and maintain that level is a huge ask. In an ideal world he'd be able to go wayward a bit now and then and have more senior pros bail him out, but I do worry the spotlight is on him so much in this side and he's not being given that support from fellow CBs.
Takes a truly special player - talking like Mbappe - to slot seamlessly into senior football and that's before you consider the transition from the sanitized style of U23s to League One.
This had me curious. Sanderson was still firmly in the U18s at the same age. He wasn't getting regular run outs for their U23s until he turned 20, whereas Doyle saw time last season (you'd argue at a higher standard) as a 17-year-old. Gives some context to expectation. He is nee Sanderson like
I've thought this for a while. Surely that's down to the coaching. Our defence just doesn’t work a unit regardless of who you put in.
Is this really the case on these deals ? If I was the club loaning a player I’d rather trust that he will be managed especially at his age so dropping him if he needs it etc just playing someone constantly regardless can do more harm. He’s clearly a top talent and having stronger established players around him would have helped recently. We are committed to playing him if he is fit, no matter what his form is.
Think the issue is injuriesIf it was the first time it had happened it could be justified. However this is the 3rd season in a row we’ve had to use makeshift fullbacks and it’s embarrassing. Clearly an issue somewhere, whether is recruitment or medical.

Maybe think about playing the lad in c/m he can handle the ball and see a pass, that’s for certain.I think he's decent tbh. I like that he's comfortable on the ball, even if he sometimes misplaces passes, he generally tries the right thing.
Defensively, he's not all there yet but think he generally did okay alongside Flanagan. Is Wright better than him at the moment? Maybe in better form.
