I think its unfair to apportion blame to a 17 year old whetever the situation.

Blame the club for being in a situation that continues to grind a 17 year old further and further down.

Wright and Flannigan should get a go for a while. But if we do that then we need to accept more hoofing, as its inevitable.

This kid is a massive reason why we struggle defensively and have conceded a ridiculous amount of goals. He can’t defend to save his life.

People just thinks he’s class because he came from Man City. He’s nowhere near good enough for a team wanting promotion from this league.
The kid and Wright have been as solid as a rock the last two games IMO, only one goal given away and that was not their fault. Is he the greatest defender yet, the answer would be no, but he is not half bad and can actually play football.

Can't challenge a high ball and slow as a lorry loaded with cattle

Sanderson for example was a beast on 1-on-1s, in the air and, recovering on the turn

He's just learning the game so unfair to blame him really. He has struggled recently though and for a big lad, loses his physical battles with strikers more than he wins them. Tendency to force a pass into midfield as well that gets intercepted. He'll have been coached to play from back though. Carry the ball out, commit a player which creates space. Could also say the lack of movement, quality and options in front of him isn't helping either, which he'd have at his parent club, even at youth level.

v short at centre back, johnson doesnt seem to rate younger, or alves.. xhemaji if anything like back to what he was meant to be will likely replace doyle.. makes you wonder about alves had johnson even seen him, just doesnt fancy him at all
At least it's one thing Napoleon has gotten right lately - Alves is f. honking.

The lad is only 17. Of course he's going to make mistakes. It does beg the question though, why are we playing a 17 y/o from Man City? The truth is, if Flanagan and Xhemajli were fit, they'd likely be playing.
Granted Tom Flanagan was having a poor run of form for us but was then MOTM in the Daily Mirror for Northern Ireland v European Champions Italy. He must have had a confidence boost following his international matches but then in our next games he is dropped against Ipswich and Shrewsbury. He can play full back too.

I think he has had a raw deal being made a scapegoat by Johnson for us leaking goals, especially with our weak as piss midfield in front of him.

I don’t think we are managing his development very well.

I think I’ve said in past threads that he’s only just turned 18 and come from playing Academy football where they play 24 league games across a season, but we are expecting him to play twice a week every week. He’s clearly not used to it and needs rested/rotated to get the best out of him.

He needed eased into men’s football and we’ve dropped him in at the deep end.
This is also true for the other youngsters in the team.

His performances were over egged earlier in the season which has set him up for a fall. He has been decent and has struggled recently, which is understandable for a young lad playing regularly for the 1st time. I would take him out of the firing line for a little bit though

He's been one of our best players.

His main issue is his lack of pace. His recovery speed is atrocious. Last night he was dispossessed by one of their attackers (not exactly a speed demon himself) and was soundly beaten over 30m despite not having the ball. Combine this with his poor decision making and we are always going to give up chances.
