C2C Training



Me n my mate joined the smb lot last year n loved it.

However…..

Thought we were well prepared, done 35mile rides etc beforehand. Crimdon-castle eden-sedgefield n back etc but a lot round here is pretty flat.
Im canny fit, footy once a week golf twice.
All shapes sizes n ages took part.

The climbs absolutely fecked us both! It seemed people much less fit but more practice pissed them! We were comfortably last every stop! 😂
Loved it though.

Only 9 weeks out now, training starts tomorrow night.
 
Don't know if it's been mentioned but the importance of the correct gearing .don't worry about the downhills think about the hills and get some proper gearing.

On endurance rides where speed isn’t massively important you want to avoid pedalling down hill as much as possible anyway.

I learnt this the hard way. I did the same event twice and was faster the time I pedalled less but put more effort in on the hills. Makes sense afterwards.
