Can anyone say if there is any difference in buying OEM gear (am thinking a GPU here) over the 'brand' models - any difference in output? Some seem to be 10-20% cheaper than the AMD/nVidia versions?

GPU or CPU? If it's a CPU a boxed and branded one will come with an approved cooler. I also use ebuyer btw. I had problems with them a few years ago but went back to them recently and they seem to have upped their game. For the record the problems were: A delivery 'guaranteed by Christmas' that never arrived as they had sold out but didn't tell me, and a multi order that arrived with only half of the parts. Their response was to 'check the packaging carefully as some components are quite small.' Oh fuck off.

In the past when I've bought a graphics card I'd buy a Chinese/HK manufactured card with the Nvidia/AMD chip, there's a higher risk of it faulting as the parts used to make the card won't be as high quality as the ones made by Nvidia & AMD but I've never had a fault with graphics cards (touch wood).

Nvidia and AMD don't make cards. I imagine they're all made in China these days, with perhaps some parts made in Korea and Taiwan. Anyone manufacturing anywhere else simply couldn't be price competitive.

Been using www.overclockers.co.uk for years. Never had a single problem with them and their after sales service is excellent. Got some memory from them once that was dead, rang them, told me to post it back which I did, about a week later a relacement arrived! Plus they always seem to have some great deals on as well!
Looking into uping my GFX card soon , so will be ordering it from them
