Buying an engagement ring!!

My ring, currently languishing at the jewellers, is a museum piece of huge sentimental value and very beautiful. I will need another ring for everyday use. I'm not sure what to get though. Something old and strange like me though most likely.
Price is immaterial, as long as it doesn't give me a rash.

can't believe people spend so much money on one, couple of hundred quid would dee man. I could think of so many better things to spend £1,000+ on. Like people who spend a fortune on their wedding...

getting married in asia.
just over 2k for the lot and it blows most uk weddings away

shut up

The holiday thing would be worth spending decent money on. An experience to remember, not something you can try and impress people with.

my lass would prefer for us to have a holiday for a grand than spend it on a ring. She could find one for a couple of hundred she'd love just as much and at the end of the day if a woman is more concerned about how much money you're going to waste on her then she's not worth being with.

Same thing goes with wedding as far as I'm concerned, you don't need to spend over ten grand to have a wonderful day. May be cynical but some times I think people spend that much for other people's benefit rather than their own happiness.

I don't think it's cynical at all. I think spending shitloads on one day, is false and as you say, for others' benefit. Have a decent day and the holiday of a lifetime if you can afford it.

Hair and skin colour is important as it dictates what gems will suit you better.

Jesus man get a grip. People change their hair colour so do they need a few rings just in case. Comments like this give women a bad name!

You can dye your hair but it won't change your natural colouring and therefore what suits you best. You may have noticed that a gold band suits a warmer skin tone etc
As this is a piece that will be worn forever it would be best to get something that is very well suited.
I would ask you to expand on the nature of me giving a whole gender a bad name but I'm concerned for fuckwits everywhere that you'll make things worse for them.

What about false tan though and if she holidays a lot. Does she need a summer one and a winter one?

Cat man, Flav man, woman man, I can't say that I've ever heard anyone, ever, mention that their ring didn't match their skin tone.
(Alexander is not allowed to post at this point ). If stuff like this concerns you, good luck to your other half.

I am going to pop the question on holiday next month!!

Anything to watch out for when buying. What would you spend? Any tips for buying or anything I should know?!!

No pics!!!

Welsh gold, expensive but rare and the value just gets higher.
Just sign the certificate and insurance up to you and she'll always only be borrowing it anyway.
