Buying an engagement ring!!

I suggest getting her a gold one, and a tin of gold spray, so her hair matches it.

As she is clearly a Chav start as you mean to go on and override her wrong headedness and buy her something personal and tasteful. When her moue of ignorant disappointment bubbles up dump her for being shallow.

Cat that is just plain rude - I'd want White gold and a diamond and I'm no chav , got nothing else to say but there are times to be controversial and times to shut the f**k up - this I feel is one of them if you've got nothing nice to say

I got the ringpull off a can of coke (from the olden days when ringpulls actually came off the can..remember them oldies ??)

Replaced with a lovely gold and amethyst/diamond combo custom made for me (one of Bad Dad's biker mates' wife is a goldsmith)

But did it match your hair colour? Or did you have to dye your hair Coke ringpull silver?

Well that went well!!!

See you all later, garydon and Cat, i'll let you know how I get on!
:oops::lol:

I was being humorous and feel slightly aggrieved at having to explain that.

can't believe people spend so much money on one, couple of hundred quid would dee man. I could think of so many better things to spend £1,000+ on. Like people who spend a fortune on their wedding...

No chance i am spending that much. Suspect I will be getting a fairly big fine in the near future

I'm so worth it tho

Hair and skin colour is important as it dictates what gems will suit you better.

Hadawayandshiteman  It's a ring ffs. And agree with Venkman. What does somebody get out of knowing that a piece of metal and a stone on your finger was ££££s ? Rather than £££s?

Haven't read thread so not sure if SEB but is the rule of thumb to spend 1 months wages on an engagement ring? I spent £600 which was nee where near like...

Get on QVC and order a diamonique one and spend the difference on a lush holiday !

Apparently that's the rule ... I was engaged once to a cockney wanker , ring was £399 - still got it somewhere covered in emulsion

The holiday thing would be worth spending decent money on. An experience to remember, not something you can try and impress people with.

The Jewellers Guild in Newcastle is a nice shop. Matt is a good lad and looked after me when buying an engagement ring, and wedding rings. What was impressive was that he made it personal and took time to have a chat and find out.

He's a good lad and you could do worse than go there and at least have a chat with him.
