Yes, you don't know and yet you are commenting on the result. They didn't play their first eleven. I'm unsure how you can compare Liverpool to us anyhow. Liverpool finished last season very strongly. They haven't broken up their side and they've added quality players. They might not end up in the top 4 but they'll be way ahead of us.

But they played a lot of their first team in the match and were beaten convincingly by a Championship team, yet we're not allowed to be beaten by Burnley by way of a penalty?

We're talking about 10 players, the GK doesn't count. Do you think Sunderland would be better today with Mignolet, we'd create more chances, score more goals with him playing before Westwood?
We're missing 4 players: Sess, O'Shea, Larsson and maybe Vaughan.

I'll bear it mind in future that you think a GK essentially dosen't count as a player becuase they don't contribute with goals and assists.

Vaughan has done more to stake a claim than Gardner according to most so dunno why he's a maybe

Laarson over Elmo, O'Shea over Bardo and Sess over one of Gardner, Colback, Catts or Wickham in this team would be a completley different prospect to play against. You can't just replace over a third of a team and say it's not that different.

Our first team will play a different formation, for starters.

We don't really have the players to dominate sides of any standard.

It's a case of hoping Gyan or Sessegnon produce something special, the rest of them are basically 'solid' or 'workmanlike'.

Especially with Cattermole in the middle of the park it will always be difficult for us to have a lot of possession.

We have to keep it tight and hope to nick the odd goal.

Look mate, like I said before. You can butter it up however you like but to me we're going to be in for a shock and next season is going to be tougher than last (unless we bring in some quality players before the deadline ends).

I can see us struggling against Liverpool and the mags and then desperately trying to sign some players before the window closes.

Burnley are an average Championship side, it's only a friendly but even with the pressure off we still can't sufficiently compete against a poor side. We've failed to be convincing in every game so far this pre-season.

Ji has been impressive here like

I wonder how long we're saying this before he actually scores for us.

Did you see our game vs Darlington last season? When we didn't create a single chance, relying on a long-range strike from Zenden to scrape victory?

That obviously ruined our season last year anarl...
