Budapest

Both historic cities, Prague more genteel.
Prague probably does have more going for it in the way of things to see and architecture, although Budapest certainly has enough of that as well.

I would just rather be in Budapest than Prague.
Suppose you could sum it up by saying there are no bullet holes on the buildings in Prague.
Plenty in Budapest after the uprising.
It may be like comparing Edinburgh and Glasgow.

I am just about to book a few days in Budapest purely on the strength of reading this thread

Is that hotel quite central mate ?

I'm looking at that one now, seems reasonable at £180 for 4 nights
It's just over a mile from the centre but it's close to the Metro, a quality hotel well worth the extra bit.lovely spa restaurant bar etc, used in the Ralph Fiennes film Grand Hotel Budapest.

Took our lass in October. Lovely place, loads to do. Flew from Manchester on Tuesday morning out with Ryanair, back Friday with jet2, 3 nights in an airbnb apartment about 100 yards from the basilica directly in front of it. It had a balcony and the view was class. Cost about £45 a night for that place and I thought it was a bargain to be honest.

I'll be going back, everything about the place was great. Enjoy.
