Absolute disgrace. The only options we have to get there are by bus, train , metro, car , walk , run . I want to fly , it's a disgrace that there is no facility to do this.

Exactly. What do people want the Police to do? If they say do what you want then it's a problem, and if they say do as we tell you then that's a problem.
If you have a ticket for the match then go to the game how you like. It's your choice, as it should be.

Northern Rail will also be providing a direct train service from Sunderland Central station to Newcastle Central station specifically for supporters travelling to the match - this will leave at 11.55am.

There will be direct Metro services for Sunderland supporters on match day. These services will not stop between Sunderland Central and Central Station and will leave at 11.58am and 12.06pm.

The escalator from the Metro platform to the main concourse of Central Station will be out of order on the Sunday however it will remain open as an additional stairwell. Anyone using the Metro should make sure they take care.

For the return journey - there are two Metros running direct from Central Station to Sunderland Central station. These will be at 4.31pm and 4.46pm. A Northern Rail service will leave Central Station at4.24pm.

Spot on.

You can bet though, that if there is trouble on Sunday it will be the police's fault for not providing an escort.

I went once on the bus never again think it was Owen 2-0 took forever to get there i prefer the atmosphere of the metro/train and you can have a few more pints in town.

Same here mate. They took the piss once and that is enough for me, I don't care if they say the coaches are quicker I'm getting the train/metro.

I'm hoping I can just go on the piss under cover in some of the bars as not doing the bubble trip, and sneak in the away end- maybe go to shark bar or something (risky)

Bars around the Monument and Haymarket were spot on last year. Charles Grey, Pacific Bar, City Tavern etc
A bit more expensive and it clearly keeps out the idiots, not a hint of trouble

It would appear they group together around the station.

That bar that was called O'Neils and both 'Spoons pubs round the corner...

Agree. If you're looking to stay out of bother just avoid Central Station, and The Gate
