Bt broadband

Up 14.4% from April on the back of 9.3% last April.

That's 23.7% in 12 months the robbing gets.

Initially went back with them because they had decent service levels relative to the industry, however feel like they are taking the complete piss here.

I wonder if I could arrange a fixed deal and send them a shite letter saying sorry I have received a relative pay cut of 5% so from April I will be paying 5% less.

Rant over.

My deal for Virgin broadband is up end of the month so going up to £48, been with them years as well. Going to give BT a go I think
We were paying £102 a month only 2 years ago for broadband, phone, and a basic TV package. No movies or sports.
I told my wife to cancel and we will find another.
She phoned to cancel and they talked her into an amendment with no phone and a reduction in what we were paying. She got it down to £70 but we had to start a new contract which was for 18 months.

It came up again not too long ago and I told her to cancel it and we'd just get broadband alone and no TV as we have Now TV and also free view.
They managed to talk her into staying and offered her £53 a month for another 18-month contract.
This is what we're currently on with the same as we already had 2 years ago barring the phone which we never used anyway because we have mobiles as most do.

Vodafone are cheap if you're after broadband only.
Cannot leave until November.

I don't know why they bother with prices because what you agree to isn't what you pay.

The price increases should be anticipated upfront and fed into the deal you sign up to. No changes allowed.

And if there are any changes they void the contract.

Agree. I have the same issue with BT via EE. My contract renewed recently for 2 years but now facing a hefty increase just a few months in. It's misleading. Needs the regulator to do something about it really.

I stayed with virgin again, but why does it all have to be this difficult. I've not spoken to anyone who's paying same as me, some are paying 20% lower and some 50% higher for exactly the same deal.

Virgin is notorious for playing hardball and being unfair.
It took me days to eventually get through to them just to change. It's most likely they won't answer when they know it's a bill query unless it's in their favour.

Mixed with BT here, great system, the halo thing is fantastic and ensures every corner of the property gets the full speed my house can achieve. No drop outs or breakdowns in years.
However the service is laughable at times. We recently tried to cancel BT sport which we had via sky, it took 4 months before they finally took it off the bill completely as well as many frustrating hours on the phone talking to absolute buffoons.
The first month after cancelling they charged us twice for it 😳, they then refunded that but charged us again in the second month, we got a refund for that but in the third month it was charged again, the forth month they dropped it but added £2 because we rang to cancel for a third time one day into a new charging month 🤣🤣. We left the £2 as the stress of getting an absolute pleb to understand the issue 4 months in was just not worth it.

Bottom line the broadband and infrastructure is great if it all works and you have no issues, if you need to call them good luck🤣.

Having said that in my experience they are all the same on the service front, sky was every bit as bad and on top of that don’t have a mesh system, while they guarantee wifi in every room (wall to wall wifi) they only guarantee 10% of your actual speed and won’t help if your speed is above this, my broadband is at 35mb max so they will only do anything if it drops below 3.5 mb‘s in other parts of the house away from the router.
Oh and they charged me £60 when the broadband failed at the green box in the street because i was out of contract, apparently if i signed a new 18 month contract it was a free repair 😳. In other words i was responsible for repairs for anything inside or outside of my home unless i had a contract. Binned them immediately after this.
