Just signed a new year three year contract with Durham.
Tbh I am quite surprised considering his injury problems but let's hope the club's faith is repaid as he looks impressive in the fleeting appearances he has made.

Good news, good player.

He tweeted a few weeks ago about heading down to London for an op. Hopefully the news from that is good. He has been playing 2nd team as a batter only, and done well.

That is quite the shock to get three year contract considering its been nearly that long since he last played cricket, certainly feels that way

Agree, I’m not against giving him a chance but a 3 year contract seems a bit risky to me.

Very much so.

I only hope there’s a clause in there to protect the club should he face further spells of absence.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s on a very low salary too, to reflect his injury record.

It makes you wonder how the club structure their contracts.

Carse needed an operation, did the club pay for it? (I'd hope so.)
If the lad cannot recover form is there an insurance policy? Presumably Carse himself is insured via the PCA to give him a bit of a cushion if he needs to look for another career but what about the club, has it hedged the investment with insurance?

It would seem sensible to do that but then insurance is a funny thing, some of the things you would think are insured aren't.

Odd giving him 3 years but pleased for the lad that we are prepared to give him a chance to prove himself when fit.

Most of the comment seem to assume he's always going to be crocked. What if he isn't? What if the news from the Doc is good, and Durham know it?

probably the most promising young player at the club (assuming the gossip about Burnham is true) He will most likely be on a basic contract with incentives if he plays regular first team cricket.
