Brucies latest drivel...

Not in the league it isn't. Not a massive recommendation, but still....

Edit: I can certainly understand Bardsley getting stick. Another example of a footballer engaging mouth before brain. But why so many "Fuck off Bruce" responses? It's an incredibly benign quote from him - albeit accentuating the positive viewpoint. Too many on here would start a Fuck off Bruce thread if he happened to smile at them on the street.

I barely even read the original point, just noticed a focus on Bardsley's comment and read it with gaping mouth. Its not the first time he's come out with this complete garbage either.

What is Bruce saying to the players. He's already claimed the Man U lads are astonished at our 'demands'.

I don't know ONE fan who is expecting any other than a good go at the top 10 and a cup.

The bottom line is though without Bent, Bruce has got an appalling record and we don't have Bent anymore...

Great point, and when you look at it that is sadly the scary truth. And what did SAFC do? reward the manager with a bumper contract and sold our goalscorer. Tossers

And I also meant a go at a 'cup run', not a 'cup win'... Getting past round 3 of the FA cup and not continuingly losing to lower league teams would be a start..

"Expecting to win leagues and stuff" F*ck off man

Even if he didn't know the Gyan was gonna do one,he still would have been short on strikers as he knew that Ji and Wickham were longterm...

I feel if Campbell returns to the first team before the transfer window opens and scores a couple of goals, then he won't bring a striker in..

Nonsense. Bendtner and Gyan would have been accepted first choice (assuming we didn't have to play 4-5-1 due to opposition). They would have expected to be first choice at a club like SAFC due to their profile. As such Bruce was relying on Wickham and Ji being long term. That way their expectations of first team football would have been tempered accordingly.

How many big name senior strikers do you think SAFC should have? Because we realistically can't expect to keep any more than two happy at any given time.

Its not a case of Big name strikers but experienced...

If either of them had got injured then like now we would be be struggling up front...

The ammount of money we have spent and the shite we still watch is hard to believe, im sorry Bruce for wanting a little winning run in the Premier League :evil:

Quinn and Bruce were banging on last season that we'd have 6 strikers to call on this season, citing Stoke as an example. This isn't quite what I had in mind though...

Bendtner, good link up player but not an out and out scorer.

Gyan sent out on a season long loan...

Ji who Bruce is now claiming is 'exhausted' and must have known his South Korean schedule before buying. Apparently "one for the future"

Wickham who is out until next year, unlucky for Bruce but dangerous relying on a teenage in any case. "One for the future"

Noble, again a youngster with no first team experience to call on, and who is returning from a horrendous injury

Campbell who has been out for over a year, and isn't expected back before March. This season will possibly be too much for him...

'Everyone gets a bit carried away don’t they? They think we are going to win leagues and stuff with eight or nine new players but it ain’t gonna happen.

'We need a little bit of patience. People think these teams will just come and roll over but they have top players in their teams.'

If Bardsley did say this, he can fuck off, I haven't talked to or heard one fellow supporter say we should be winning the league or things or anyting close!! All we want is a win now and again and some sort of performance at home, Bruce isn't delivering this at present!

Bruce calls for calm but says Sunderland must beat Wigan to get season going

Steve Bruce has appealed for calm from Sunderland fans, but accepts his side must beat Wigan at home next week.

Sunderland have yet to record a victory at the Stadium of Light this season and Mark Schwarzer and the woodwork denied them win over Fulham, who also had their chances to settle an uninspired match.

There were the first muted shouts of `Bruce Out’ as Sunderland struggled against a side who have won only once in six games on their travels.
The heat is on: Steve Bruce is facing unrest from sections of the Sunderland fans

But with Wigan and Blackburn next on Wearside, in between a visit to Wolves, the unrest could grow.

Bruce said: `We’ll just have to make sure we beat Wigan or try our best to beat Wigan and move on.

'I think the season’s just about to start. I know we’ve played 12 games but we’ve got something like 10/ 12 games in the next seven weeks, which will define our season.

'We hope that we can still improve. I still think there have been improvements – certainly defensively we’re far, far better than we’ve ever been. We’ve just got to find that little bit up front that makes the difference

'We need a bit of patience. There’s an expectation and a pressure. They come in their thousands which creates the pressure. Let’s make no mistake: there’s more pressure here than at a Bolton or a Blackburn or a Fulham or a Wigan because the support we have is quite unique. It’s fantastic. And it’s up to us to give them something to shout about at home.’

Defender Phil Bardsley added: 'Everyone gets a bit carried away don’t they? They think we are going to win leagues and stuff with eight or nine new players but it ain’t gonna happen.

'We need a little bit of patience. People think these teams will just come and roll over but they have top players in their teams.'

Looks like the goal posts getting moved a bit there again. Sure he said judge him after the first 12 games and now we still in the shit its suddenly the next 10-12 games which count.

Get this fool out before its to late

How many experienced strikers do you have 'just in case' though? If we'd found an experienced striker willing to sit on the bench - possibly indefinitely - would we have been able to give enough games to Ji and Wickham allow their development? And would he have been the type of character that we'd want here anyway?

He seems loathe to play Ji despite the lack of any strikers at the moment.

It's not a case of just incase...No team goes through the season injury-free,we should have prepared for that...

Bendnter had one shot on goal against Fulham..

Aye, I've never thought a team would roll over for us either, I mean were playing bottom of the league on Saturday and I don't expect them to roll over. Its all a bit patronising by Bardsley tbh, he's either trying to defend our poor run or he's a sarcastic kernt.

I dont kow who pros are kidding if they think the fans expect teams to roll over. To win again you simply need to play better than the opposition and score more goals, which we didnt do against an awful team. See Phil, its not hard.

We don't even have an 'experienced' striker to play in the first 11 alongside Bendtner though

Apart from Bendtner, we have one striker in the Middle East, 3 youngsters who Bruce in his own words claimed "are for the future" and Campbell.

Out of these, Wickham is unfortunately injured until next year, Ji is apparently 'exhausted', Noble has been out for a year and has only played a couple of first team games anyway and Campbell has been out for over a year and not expected back before March, if at all this season.

Not the 6 strikers that Bruce and Quinn were banging on about last season, and how we wouldn't be caught short again....

Brucey blaming the fans again I see, what a cunt that bloke is

That'll inspire the lads ......

What a negative man he is

He seems loathe to play Ji despite the lack of any strikers at the moment.

I think we have to be open to the possibility that there is something up with Ji at the moment. Perhaps he is struggling with language/settling in. After what his NT manager said, perhaps Bruce knows the full story and is using jet lag as the excuse in order to protect him. Still remains that Ji was nominally fourth choice on 1st September. As such Bruce should have reasonably been able to expect to have had the opportunity to ease him into life in England.
