Bruce calls for calm but says Sunderland must beat Wigan to get season going

Steve Bruce has appealed for calm from Sunderland fans, but accepts his side must beat Wigan at home next week.
Sunderland have yet to record a victory at the Stadium of Light this season and Mark Schwarzer and the woodwork denied them win over Fulham, who also had their chances to settle an uninspired match.
There were the first muted shouts of `Bruce Out’ as Sunderland struggled against a side who have won only once in six games on their travels.

But with Wigan and Blackburn next on Wearside, in between a visit to Wolves, the unrest could grow.
Bruce said: `We’ll just have to make sure we beat Wigan or try our best to beat Wigan and move on.
'I think the season’s just about to start. I know we’ve played 12 games but we’ve got something like 10/ 12 games in the next seven weeks, which will define our season.
'We hope that we can still improve. I still think there have been improvements – certainly defensively we’re far, far better than we’ve ever been. We’ve just got to find that little bit up front that makes the difference
'We need a bit of patience. There’s an expectation and a pressure. They come in their thousands which creates the pressure. Let’s make no mistake: there’s more pressure here than at a Bolton or a Blackburn or a Fulham or a Wigan because the support we have is quite unique. It’s fantastic. And it’s up to us to give them something to shout about at home.’
Defender Phil Bardsley added: 'Everyone gets a bit carried away don’t they? They think we are going to win leagues and stuff with eight or nine new players but it ain’t gonna happen.
'We need a little bit of patience. People think these teams will just come and roll over but they have top players in their teams.'

I wonder what he actually says to players to get them fired up and raring to go. Actual I don’t think I do.
Out of all of them, i thought Bardo would be the least likely to come out with shite like this, you wouldnt think half the team had came from man utd, surely they should have a little clue about dealing with pressure given their background, shows how out of touch with reality they are. they spout the shit when we're doing well to build us up, then when we expect what we have been told its us that is over expecting? bollocks
bruce at the beginning of every season 'we want a good cup run'
bruce/players/quinny at the beginning of the season 'we want to build on last season, we are a top ten team'
just keeping one of these promises would be a bonus like

Bardsley's comments are very interesting IMHO.
Mainly because if Bruce came out with that absolute bollocks, he'd be slated and people would use this "having a go at the fans" as a reason for him to be sacked...
I wonder if Bardsley's "passion" and that fact that he's never supported Newcastle will save him from being slated?
Our record since Kean took over at Blackburn is even worse than theirs, and their fans are in open revolt and have been for months.
I can't think there are many, if any, clubs where you could reach 20th November and have only two home wins in all competitions all year and not have disgruntled fans.

Bruce has the cheek to criticise Blatter for speaking before thinking
Bruce
"Benty" is my man - fucks off within the week
Gyan is going nowhere - fucks off within 24 hours
Bramble - sends Anton to QPR as he could rely on Bramble - on a sex pest charge within the week
Ji - had to travel 11,000 miles (c3,500 miles each way)
Bruce is a total arsehole - a total wanker - a total liability
