Brucies latest drivel...

I agree with that, I think a lot of things that come out of Bruce's mouth and now some of the players is incredibly patronising. We're just going off your 3 year plan Steve, 8th - 12th and most fans would be very happy indeed.

His slant on the interview I heard this morning of us 'chasing a goal and bombing forward' had me thinking that players will be screamed at if they go over the halfway line on Saturday.

This is a very similar game to last year's against Wigan and Jordan saved the day then, we need someone to step up to the plate on Saturday.

It is interesting because you can see he is already thinking nick one stay back, or stay back and try to nick one. Been there done that on far too many occasions all we end up doing is inviting pressure, falling back to a penalty box we can't defend and end up conceeding. Its going to be a very long season.

'I think the season’s just about to start. I know we’ve played 12 games but we’ve got something like 10/ 12 games in the next seven weeks, which will define our season.

'We need a bit of patience. There’s an expectation and a pressure. They come in their thousands which creates the pressure. Let’s make no mistake: there’s more pressure here than at a Bolton or a Blackburn or a Fulham or a Wigan because the support we have is quite unique. It’s fantastic. And it’s up to us to give them something to shout about at home.’

Defender Phil Bardsley added: 'Everyone gets a bit carried away don’t they? They think we are going to win leagues and stuff with eight or nine new players but it ain’t gonna happen.

'We need a little bit of patience. People think these teams will just come and roll over but they have top players in their teams.'
Some absolutely ridiculous comments from Bruce and Bardsley. First of all Bruce, try telling the Mags that the season has just started; they've all but guaranteed surivial and the season hasn't even started according to you. Brilliant, just brilliant.

And Bardsley can fuck off as well. Is winning more than 1 home game every three months too much to ask you stupid knacker? I don't expect to win the league, hell with Bruce in charge I don't even expect to be in the top half. Just some entertainment and the odd win would be nice, but with limited plodders like Bardo in the team neither of those things seem likely.

In all honesty, where is this expectation, we finished 10th last season, we were shite, we just sneaked in to tenth, shouldnt have finished there and fans were happy, for as long as i can remember its the club coming out with this '3 year plan' 'slow progression' 'top ten team' shite, then when we're not performing, they start coming out with this shit that its us expecting too much...99.99% of sunderland fans would be over the moon with a top ten finish and maybe, just maybe, getting past the 3rd round of a cup!

It's an away tactic and it works okay away from home but at home the pressure will mount on the team and him as the fans expect, and rightly so, that the team will go for the throat at home, we're barely going for the ankle.

Stop getting ahead of our station man! We're only Sunderland, we should be happy we're in the cups. Expecting to win any games in these cup competitions just creates unnecessary pressure for the players.

Bardsley's comments are interesting in that they make him sound thick as fuck.

I'd be f***ing amazed if there's a single SAFC fan on the planet who 'thinks we're going to win leagues and stuff' within the next half a f***ing century, nevermind while he's playing for us.

Exactly. You also have to wonder where he's getting his opinion from... my money is on Bruce

sorry lads, obviously this is the type of pressure bruce is talking about, i can see why bardsley and co cant cope now.

More Bruce drivel from the Guardian

"For all the good stuff we did today, that main thing of scoring a goal is why they are so expensive, why they are very difficult to get, and that's what we are missing," he said. "The one thing we missed was just the final stuff. Sessègnon was terrific all day, but we needed to score a goal and unfortunately, it wasn't to be."

I'd wish he'd pack his bags and do one.

He's not very good at interviews/press conferences is he?

I'm going to admit I was very much part of the happy clapping Bruce in brigade but these last few months have well and truely done it for me, he needs to go.

SO what if we don't beat Wigan, can we start criticising then?

Or will there be some other excuse trotted out and our season will start against Wolves?

Are we delusional to want/hope our team play decent football? Are we mad to expect our team to win at hom now and again? Are we really expecting too much? We are used to being the north east whipping boys and we are used to being let down season after season but whats wrong with wanting your team to be in the top 10 and up for a fight in all games? What we lack in quality we should make up with fight and a never say die attitude but I don't see it at the moment....load of shite...

We are so one dimensional, god knows how we will create chances if Sess gets injured, he is the only player with any craft vision.

We finished 10th last season, we have no reason to criticise Bruce and his team.

Wish people would stop getting above their station, how dare we expect to get some wins against the mighty Newcastle, WBA, Villa and Fulham.

I'm sick of hearing the fat fucker make excuses. He should only be concentrating on trying to turn out a team who actually look like they have seen each other Monday to Friday on the training field, rather than looking like 11 f***ing strangers.....

Bardsley ----- fuck right off son....
