Brucies latest drivel...

Defender Phil Bardsley added: 'Everyone gets a bit carried away don’t they? They think we are going to win leagues and stuff with eight or nine new players but it ain’t gonna happen.

f***ing hell, what a load of shite

Another article where he mentions pressure and expectation. There's not THAT much of it here, but its clear Bruce struggles to cope with it. Nee idea what Bardsley is on about either, excuses galore

It's a long time since there was such a disconnection between the fans and the players. Even in 2005/6, they were laughably useless.

Perhaps 2002/3, when Micky Gray was investing in new Ferraris, I suppose.

If those quotes are true, then Bardsley's a complete idiot. Bruce must have been brainwashing the team with his theory on fans expectations.

WE DON'T EXPECT TO WIN THE LEAGUE.

Is that clear enough for you?

Tidied for you there Phil.

Don't beat Wigan, or more importantly, pick the same negative side and I'll be calling for Bruce to go.

Sadly Wigan at home will save Fattys bacon for now . I wish Short would just put the clueless knacker out of his misery :-(

I find it incredibly patronising and if he thinks we want to win the league then he doesn't have a clue about the fans he plas in front of.

I just want to go to game and see the odd win and a few goals, is that too much to ask?

Our record since Kean took over at Blackburn is even worse than theirs, and their fans are in open revolt and have been for months.

I can't think there are many, if any, clubs where you could reach 20th November and have only two home wins in all competitions all year and not have disgruntled fans.

there is so much apathy at Sunderland though mate, has been for years

I agree with that, I think a lot of things that come out of Bruce's mouth and now some of the players is incredibly patronising. We're just going off your 3 year plan Steve, 8th - 12th and most fans would be very happy indeed.

His slant on the interview I heard this morning of us 'chasing a goal and bombing forward' had me thinking that players will be screamed at if they go over the halfway line on Saturday.

This is a very similar game to last year's against Wigan and Jordan saved the day then, we need someone to step up to the plate on Saturday.

 must have dozed off when this happened mate, if anyone looked like winning it it was Fulham

It obviously is Carty.

Our record for quite a few years is a lot worse than years. I reckon Bruce thought he was on to an easy job here, as we'd been so shite for years that we would just put up with more of it.

It's time we started making the SoL a fortress (and by we I mean the team). The actions of the players reflect the managers input and the pedestrian fayre that is currently on going is disappointing to say the least.

To many sideways and backwards passes, too many players without the gumption to bomb forward with or without the ball, to many wide players with an unerring accuracy to under hit, over hit, or find opposition players on all but the very very few occasions, it's chronic.

We've barely a player who can shoot from outside the box, and when they do it's pile driven into a crowd be it players or supporters.

Bruce is laughable when he talks about expectation, it's funny because as a minimum requirement I expect players to be able to undertake the basic fundamentals, you know, those we were all taught at school; tackle, pass, run. We make far far far too many basic errors, some of which ultimately cost us valuable points.

The above two paragraphs best highlighted by injury time on Saturday, no sense of urgency, no desire, just very poor and inaccurate passing which meant Fulham spent the majority of the three added minutes in possession and in control to see the game out.

I know, he made it sound like the full backs were marauding with gay abandon and we were swarming over them leaving Brown and Turner exposed. He is genuinely terrified of our players getting beyond their man, losing the ball and being left exposed.

Sick of hearing about the expectations of the fans, is it unreasonable to expect to win more than 3 home games this year?

As for Bardsley's comments

This idiot comes out with the same drivel week after week. He is alienating the fans and I can't believe he's doing it again.
So ths week it's the fans fault.............when will he accept that it just may be his fault.
How can a manager come out with a comment like he has ie we need to beat Wigan to get our season started as we approach the end of November ?
I don't expect us to win at home anymore, didn't expect it against Fulham, don't expect it against Wigan, so what does that say about the fans expectation ?
With him at the helm we are on the road to nowhere.
