Henderson should have been taken off way sooner than he was. The lad was knackered and having an awful game (not a criticism of him, he's young and will have them).

Should have happened after about 60 mins, but waited till Everton scored before doing it.

Still a great point against a very good side - Sunderland of old would have lost that comfortably.

I thought he left Henderson and Zenden on too long, possibly Richardson too. I thought they all looked tired around the hour mark.

He played 90 mins for England on Wed, and IIRC he's played every game this season. Nee wonder he's running low on fatigue, possibly rest him on Sat.

Bent looked gone after 70mins. I know he was thrown in and thought maybe putting steed behind welbeck may have allowed us to play it through thier defence. God knows why Turner etc kept hoofing it to bent all night.

Well said :)

I thought he should have shored the midfield up directly after we took the lead. We needed to flood it with bodies to make it harder for Everton to pick up the second ball. Still, who knows what would have happened with all these alternative histories we are offering. Very credible point in the end against a good side and without us anywhere near our best.

he didnt peg baines back like he did cole..switched wingers over instead, giving baines the run of the left hand side

Couldn't understand this, but Zenden did get a canny assist from the right.

Agreed, thought he was poor tonight. Personally think he was poor against NUFC/Stoke and Spurs as well.

Needs a rest, maybe not away to Wolves but at home when we don't need as big an engine we could look at Malbranque in the middle with Cattermole.

tried the same ball all night and it didnt f***ing work at all

you would think they would have clicked on like

That lad needs some rest like.

I thought he looked under pressure tonight, Joe. After the relative slating he got fro the media after England, then having to dwell on it the extra couple of days before stepping out for a live TV game. Looked flappable tonight for the first time I think.

Think it's wrong to say he made a mistake as such. Everyone will have a different opinion of what changes they would have made, especially in hindsight.
Personally I would have brought Elmo on for Zenden at half time as I believed we were too open on that side and Elmo would also have taken the game to them a bit better.
All in all it was a good point and it's good to keep the run going.

I would have took Rico off (thought he was terrible, apart from his cross for our 2nd) rather than Hendo and just switched wings with Steed and Elmo

Bent should have gone off after the 2nd, stuck another man in midfield as Arteta and Pienaar had it too easy at times

Despite what Bruce said this week about formations etc, they do make a difference and can be the difference between winning or not.

Bruce got it spot on at Chelsea. His use of Richardson against Cole was inspired.

But I feared he would stick with the same tonight and he did but decided to switch Zenden and Richardson over allowing Baines to take advantage of Zendens lack of pace down the left. Personally I would've got a natural right sided player out there tonight. Just because players play well one match doesn't make them immune from being left out of the starting xi next match.

I'm sticking with what I said a few weeks ago - he needs a spell on the sidelines, for mental freshness as much as anything.

I was very surprised he didn't start with Elmohamedy.

He's trying to get an England call-up.
