Bruce Springsteen

Despite being a man of fine and varied musical taste and ability, The Boss is one artist I have never ever took the time out to get into, despite probably being the kind of stuff that I would love.

As an absolute Springsteen amateur starting fresh, where would you suggest I start? Is there a particular album, just start at the beginning and work my way through the albums, or a greatest hits effort?

All sensible and stupid replies are welcome.

You only like one genre of music? I grew up with Trance and Techno music in the 90's - the Gatecrasher Classical is fantastic, similar to the Hacienda Classical which many on here will have seen at Herrington recently.

My main interest is Indie/Britpop/RocknRoll - but even then I was in an Emo band when I was a teenager

Folk Folk/Protest music is what I've spent most of 2018 listening to.

So I guess I'm not scared to like a lot of different things. I hope you aren't one of these stuck in your little music bubble, still wearing your hair like Liam Gallagher and saying mad fer it and ending every sentence with as you were, otherwise that would be unfortunate.
Don't be so f***ing stupid. You have completely misunderstood my post and then sallied off in your own little dream world.

It was meant tongue in cheek mate. No need to get all personal turd brain ;)

You tried to take the piss saying I like dance music, which I do. My point is you can like loads of different types of music and it doesn't mean you have a shite taste in music.

In fairness I'm not even f***ing sure what your point was but well done in not adding anything of note to the thread. At least my reply to you was entertaining.

You must try harder at either getting your point across or taking the piss in an entertaining manner - it's a 2/5 from Mux.

My point really wasn't that difficult: Gatecrasher was/is for divvies with dummies and UV'd toothbrushes in their hair, and the music that they specialised in to keep this particular bunch of performing monkeys happy was/is a spectacularly dreary form of trance. There are heaps of wonderful electronic music out there: the stuff that appears on Gatecrasher compliations is not amongst them. Moreover, the point I was making is that if you can't tell the difference between good and bad electronic music (or "dance" music, if you will), then it really doesn't bode well for you being able to distinguish good and bad music in other genres.

Glad we got to clear that up :D

The River is probably my pick of his albums to start with.

'Nebraska' definitely the best place to start closely followed by ' tunnel of love' underrated but still a great Springsteen starting point.

Nebraska whilst being a brilliant album is a bit bleak for a neophyte Boss fan IMO.

Pictures of people having a mint time? Aye the music must be awful mate - also Gatecrasher is one of the most popular events in 'dance' music so you thinking it's shite is your opinion but doesn't really count for much. Also if you think all that

Besides, Gatecrasher is an event I went to last year, it's not the only electronic music I'm into, so your point is moot. Tomorrow I'm in Sheffield for Dmitri From Paris - any thoughts on that? Shite electronic music? Saturday night I drive back home and my rock'n'roll cover band are playing a gig in Newcastle, just like we have done every weekend since August, we aren't taking any more bookings until the new year, it's been mad but class since we are relatively new and finding our feet.

I was a successful club DJ until about 5 years ago, producing music as well as playing the club scene. There is little doubt if you are from Sunderland that you will have been to one of my events or nights before. I was a radio DJ on an FM radio station for about 3 years with a music show. I've been in bands since I was 17 years old (some better than others I'll admit ) so I've been involved and contributing to the music scene since I was a bairn.

I've been on tour with the Vaccines, went to a Fulham game with Example after interviewing him for radio and my sexual claim to fame is getting with Charlotte Cooper from the Subways - so I've been right in the music scene you could say.

But yeah mate, I once went to Gatecrasher so my taste in music must be shite. No doubt you are at the absolute forefront of new music and have your finger on your pulse of what is hot and what is not. I can just tell Thackeray mate.
