Maybe because our expectations are different to that of Shorts? Bruce is turning over players at a profit and re-paying his initial investment. Bruce may be a part of his exit strategy. Only serious flirtation with relegation could trigger a response. Speculative of course, but anyone watching last nights performance with any ambition to trouble the upper reaches of the league would surely be preparing his papers.

Aye, it depends entirely on why Short took over the club. If he did so to really set up a powerful legacy he has the money for us to be paying the sort of money City etc are, really have a crack at things, but all signs are that Bruce has had to sell to buy and that we have a tight wage cap. I think he's trying to see what revenue he can make from an established PL franchise, what sort of contacts and business he can do around that, and then see if the returns are worthwhile for us to be any bigger than that.

The Wickham deal and the relative sucsess of our Academy would also suggest he sees us farming decent players for a couple million a pop as being a big strength.

That is so wrong re ES's motives. He is ambitious for SAFC and committed long term.
I believe he will fire SB v soon

I believe you to be a high powered billy bullshitter but there you go, it is all about opinions at the end of the day.

He has more sense than to spunk away the kind of money City are.

I don't understand your last point. Neither the Wickham deal or any of the academy players suggest that at all. Liverpool offered a ridiculously high price for Henderson, it was silly money. A couple of other young'uns have come and gone but not enough to indicate that it's Short's game plan.

As with everyone you're entitled to your own opinions mate ... but there's nothing there to "suggest" that your opinions are anything othere than just that.

He had to front load his investment to stabilise us. We are now surviving by our own means gradually. People who expect the initial investment year on year for what is to all purposes a provincial backwater with half an arse on a seat at the top table are pulling the wool over their eyes. He will recoup and then sell us on. Nothing wrong with that, he is not going to give it away despite what some on here think.

Heard this before, I doubt it very much. How many more performances the powers that be can take like last night though is another matter.

Is my view of what will happen. People inside the club were disgusted with last night

Nah, wont happen, will still get a few more games and will only get sacked if we lose a run of games or get stuck in the bottom 3 !

Wickham is a patent case of being an investment. He won't stay here if he goes on to meet his reputation, but he will leave for a fortune, or worst case scenario he will move still get back more or less what we paid for him because he's English, hyped up, and a striker. But it made no sense buying him this season for actual playing time, as he's not ready yet. Even Bruce has said that, said him when he bought him even.

Our Academy is producing one of the best Youth teams in the country. I'm not saying it will make us anything special, but in the past few years we've made over 20 million on players for little outlay. And again, there's a good chance that players who are good enough for the higher leagues who come through will be English, and thus their financial pedigree greater.

I'm not claiming to know anything though, far from it, not at all in fact. I'm just looking at the Academy as an obvious business advantage.

Re Spunking money away-I agree that he's clealry shrewd. But if he wanted us to be contenders as it were, he would have had to spend alot more than he has already, is my point, to get us there. I.e I don't think he does, not at the moment.

1 win in 7, 9 without a win last season 14 the season before.

He should be peddled asap.

Its not looking good for bruce, results show this, and i think bruce will be banking on our home forn to keep him in a job, win against west brom should keep him in a job for a few weeks and then villa at home will be a vital game for bruce with bolton and arsenal away before this....

i was talking to a high powered businessmen in Sunderland this morning and he wants bruce out so wouldn't be surprised. hope it doesn't happen, i still think he can turn us around. we have improved league position every year he has been in the job.

I respect your opinion, unfortunately, there is not one shred of evidence to suggest that as far as this whole year is concerned and Bruce's whole career that you are correct.

Our home form is absolute shite though.

Bruce looks like he hasn't got a clue what to do.

It's inevitable that he loses his job soon. It's just a question of how long we need to suffer before he gets the sack.

Noone has any reason to believe you mate, and you've given none when people have asked, so I wouldn't expect too many folk to agree

Believevwhat exactly pal? There is a meeting in London today, with Ellis and some club officials. This is correct.
My opinion is that Bruce will be gone v soon. I got a text last night from someone whose identity I am not willing to share that strongly indicated that SB is in immediate danger of the sack.

So - fact (that will be confirmed in future I'm sure), opinion and then fact that I have chosen to share but refuse to share how.
If you don't believe me I really couldn't give a toss. But I would hope that in the same position others would do as I have done.

Even that doesn't make sense as we have won three home games since 18/12/10. October is racing towards us, three wins in almost one year is does not encourage me.

I have no reason to disbelieve the op, in fact, common sense tells me he is exactly right.

A win will paper over the cracks, the Stoke win did.

Bruce needs sacking sooner rather than later.

What, post something vague on a message board that can't really be confirmed and denied? Yeah, you're a hero.

Over the summer several ITk's posted exact details that could be reliably verified and they turned out to be spot on. That's the standard that's been set. If you post something that's little more than a riddle it's just nothing in comparison to people who really share facts.
