Bruce - Bardsley first choice left back

Funny that, I don't ever remember him ever being defensively embarrassed in the time he played left back.

Much like the Hutton myth, it's complete lunacy to suggest Richardson can't defend.
He can't tackle and hes weak, and what hutton myth he was a very capable defender for us

Your anti Bardo agenda is getting tiresome.

Are you really so arrogant that you can not accept someone disagreeing with you without having to convince yourself it is all "an agenda"?

Same old haters. I would suspend judgement until this season. . . I bet some of you Bardsley haters actually rate Ferdinand.

And had a good cry when Henderson left. . .

:p

He played there most of last season and so far we haven't got a LB in so who is a better option.

Richardson - by a country mile.

I'm not advocating bardsley as a LB, but for those saying richardson is a better option :lol:

He takes defensive cluelessness to a whole new level. His only attribute as a defensive player is his ability to run fast and track players. Bit like the pointer henderson. Nee defensive substance

You're really not very good at understanding how footy teams work eh? Cattermole? Richardson?....himmmmmmm....

Someone who can defend properly.
Because Phil Bardsley can't defend properly.

A little harsh there, Cap'n. Bardo has the potential to be a solid, if unspectacular, RB.

Not unless he can drastically improve his concentration and positioning. I wouldn't necessarily put that past him, but until he does he is one glaring weak link in our defence that opposition managers will continue to go after.

It always amuses me why some people accuse others of a random opinion that they've never expressed to try and make their own argument sound more convincing.

I bet some of you Bardsley lovers probably thought Greg Halford would have been good if he'd got a fair chance...

Greg who?

Besides, its the SMB way. . . And surely you would rather see the back of Ferdinand before Bardsley?

I 'bet' some of you Bardsley haters actually rate Ferdinand (above Bardsley) . . .
I'm sure one of you fuckers has expressed that opinion once upon a time.

Surely. . .

What was my argument again. Aaaagh, Fuck it.

Didn't stop Denis Irwin being a great left back being right footed.

Dennis Irwin was a much better defender and - most importantly - played behind Ryan Giggs who has/had pace, skill and width to burn.

Our only genuine winger is Elmo, so we need our full backs to provide width and support. A lot of our attacks came from Bardsley down the left side last season, but were so easy to defend against because of him cutting inside and killing momentum, and were cut out high up the pitch meaning we were immediately back under pressure.

But no, hes git mint because he cuts in and shoots.

Kieran Richardson provides width but unfortunately is f***ing shite.

ok m8 o,shea great defender at 30 do you think
he has still got the legs to do a left backs job up
& down the pitch

Has the potential? He's 26.

The role of the full-back has changed over the years, they must be able to get forward and support in attack as well as defend.

Bardo isn't particularly great at either. He has his moments.
