Bruce - Bardsley first choice left back

He was the only player available to play left back from about January onwards man. How is that possibly competition for places?

I don't remember the much-lauded continental fullback Kieron Richardson being injured for much of that period?

We need new everywhere until all positions are filled by the best players in the world in every position. Left back is not priority at the minute tho.

Considering we dont have any left backs (especially if you dont count Richardson and O'shea as left backs) how isnt it a priority?!

He was being played in midfield due to the fact we also had no midfielders, and he was injured towards the end of the season.

It would be mental if it was to the detrement of the team and the way it functions. Good managers make tough decisions for the benefit of the team. We would benefit from having a balanced side.

It really is as simple as that. I don't know many people who have criticised Bardsley's effort and application, but watching us last season it was painfully obvious that we simply didn't make enough use of the left side of the pitch and ultimately made it easier for teams to defend against us.

The rest of the f***ing team was though, he was played in either a different position, or he was injured. I'd be surprised if there was one single game where Bardsley was left back and Richardson was sitting on the bench fully fit.

Yes we have. George McCartney

We've already established he's not up to Premier League football, keep up old bean.

Bardsley fills in well but we'd benefit further by having a natural left back who can perform at Premier League level. I struggle to see how people cannot see that. Its common sense.

If Bardsley is lacking in ability defensively, how will putting him at right back make any difference? I don't personally think he should be starting at right back or left back, I would have Brown/O'Shea at right back and Richardson at left back, with Bardsley as back up to cover both positions.

I don't think the fact that he's a right footed player playing at left back is the main problem, it's that he's not good enough to be a first choice starter in either position.

Did you forget our centre forward leaving and Richardson playing as an attacking midfielder as we had no other options beacuse we didn't sign a centre forward?

No, I just remember the likes of Malbranque, Zenden etc all being available to play in midfield had Bruce been desperate to get Richardson into his back four, seeing as Bardsley was f***ing up so regularly........

Im still pretty confident that Bruce isnt a total f***ing idiot, and if we dont sign a left back, Richardson will be playing there. Or O'shea.

Why play Rico at left back he cannot really defend and surely a defenders job is to defend???

O'Shea is right footed so same argument as Bardo surely. O'Shea is better playing right back or centre back he is a better player than Bardo so play him in his strongest position.

Doesn't matter mate.

Didn't Makin play down his 'wrong' side? Pretty sure he was a left-footed right back? Or played down the left, right footed. Could be wrong.
