Wilberforce, I think?

Well he's the bloke that gets the credit these days and he was a major part of the campaign, but it was far from a one man crusade, the anti-slavery movement had massive support, a lot of which was drawn from church groups.

This cant be true as SMB is always telling me that the church is PURE EVIL.

Religon [and biblical verses] were used as justification by both sides.

When the UK Parliament passed the Bill that abolished the trading of slaves. The King of Bonny (now in Nigeria) was horrified at the conclusion of the practice:

"We think this trade must go on. That is the verdict of our oracle and the priests. They say that your country, however great, can never stop a trade ordained by God himself"

I don't they are forgotton tbh.

Perhaps it's not mentioned what people are talking about the 'slave trade', but then that usually refers to the Atlantic Slave Trade of the 16th to 19th centuries.

It's well documented that every Empire used slaves. It's just more relevant to us how our Empire used slaves.

But it is strange that Muslim slave traders were taking African slaves from around the ninth or tenth century right up until the mid nineteenth and quite often the Arabs would act as middle men in the European slave trade, and yet their culture doesn't feel the same need for self flagellation that our liberal apologists insist in inflicting on us.

< cough >

Don't use the past tense mate, they still are taking them.

I've been served food prepared by slaves, and there was nowt I could do about it.

The Wikipedia server must glow red hot when threads like this appear.

White people were seldom victims.

Serfdom is the status of peasants under feudalism, specifically relating to Manorialism. It was a condition of bondage or modified slavery which developed primarily during the High Middle Ages in Europe and lasted to the mid-19th century.
Most of Europe were slaves, how do you think the aristocracy and their hangers on became so rich?
