British Army Unable To Fight For More Than A Few Days

bit naive.

I’m sure people can explain all the expert views about why it is, and the need for deterrent etc…

But aside from a couple of Middle East interventions under Blair and Bush when have we ever had a need for a large standing army with significant use of tanks etc… even in the middle Wast we deployed a fraction of it.

Navy I completely get.
Air Force I completely get.
Special forces I completely get.

In what plausible scenario as an island based nuclear power and part of NATO are we are ever going to need a significant fighting force of tanks, APC’s, artillery etc…

There isn’t one - Which is why Ukraine has demonstrated the absurd amount spent on military hardware in the West that since WW2 has essentially only ever been used for training and decommissioned later at immense expense.

I will agree it’s now come in handy for arming Ukraine. But why we spend billion on army related equipment for a land war It’s almost impossibly to see us ever fighting I have no idea.

We are only sending weapons to Ukraine because America likes a good war and we need to show face....The yanks like a good war to keep their weapon manufactures rich and happy...

When one of them doesn’t want peace talks just tanks you have to shake your head a tad.
No head shaking needed. Why would Ukraine want peace talks when they still have foreign invaders in their land? Unless the peace talks include giving them their territory back it’s not going to happen is it

Which side is that? Russia’s only interest in peace talks is on the basis that the land it’s illegally invaded and annexed, plus a bit more they haven’t managed to grab yet, is recognised by Ukraine as Russian.

That’s not really a solid footing to negotiate in good faith, and it’s not a helpful step forward for any peaceful international order because it sends a quite clear message that it’s still ok to take the land of another nation by force.

Plus, any peace will only last until Russia considers itself ready to have a crack at the rest of Ukraine and / or Transnistria again.

We've seen how quickly things can change, should never take peace for granted. People said similar things before ww2.

Just carry on with the funding then.
