Let's be honest we will be lucky to get any decent calibre of manager and even if we did look at the last few seasons does not always make success.

He will have my full support if he comes here.

I know very little about him, guess most of us won't really. No one knows for sure how he'll do but I guess the one positive I can take is for the first time since Bruce we've had to prize a manager away from a club where he's been doing well. Hopefully he's improved since he was at Bristol City, I just hope our signings under him aren't concentrated from north of the border, otherwise there will be problems.

Depending on what constraints he is having to work under, he deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Unless the strategy is to sign a team that is good enough just to stay in the league. I wanna see where the Pickford money goes

IMO we'll make a cash signing or two asap - one £3m or so (keeper if Mannone is away too?) and one a much smaller amount (someone like Hayes from Aberdeen). Then we'll wait till further players move before commiting more money as the Pickford fee being the first one up is going to get quickly eaten up elsewhere.

Risky strategy though - you end up, like last season, raking around in the dregs!

The timing means little tbh. Most still wont move till near the end of the window when things kick off, that's just the way it happens. It will all come down to money and that was the main issue last season too - how deals were structured, not enough to go around, wages etc.

You just better hope he don't sign a load of scots, just like Craig Levein did for us.

Another manager who underestimated the championship
