Bringing Wickham on with seven minutes to go

Don't be so ridiculous. Maybe Cattermole was his idea, the rest were lined up before he came (certainly Bent was a done deal) and then there were the legions that were on loan. There was Gyan too, that was his.

But he didn't sign Gordon, Bardsley, Richardson, Ferdinand, Malbranque or Henderson for a start. Lucky us though, he did grace us with Elmo and Bramble in that team.

He fell out with Cana, fell out with Bent, fell out with Gyan and they were never replaced. There were too many loan players which blatantly were never going to be replaced and weren't.

Bare in mind as well we were a point off 14th, that "we were 10th" bollocks got very old very quickly then, never mind now.
Bent wanted to leave for more money, as did Gyan. They got it.
He never fell out with them.
Cana lost his place through injury and could not get back in and wouldnt go on the bench. Meyler was better than him. He was found out. He was a dud as his subsequent history has proved. Fair play we got our money back
He wanted out, and what he done since.
To suggest Bent was nothing to do with Bruce is total made up twaddle and you know it.
Henderson never played or started a full game until Bruce arrived.
What did Gordon contribute to the 10th place? He was forever sick man.
Ferdinand was a bit part player.
Steed, Rico and maybe Badsley were the only inherited players that got regular games.
Nice attempt at rewriting history mind. Pity it lacks a shred of truth.

Possibly because he's rarely capable of imposing himself on games. Wickham's reputation has swelled to absurd levels n this forum after the invented 'no recall' outrage.

I think this is a bit of a straw man Spav and has some similarities with when Campbell was out with injury. The law of averages and/or normal distribution suggests there's bound to be a few knackers who are full of hyperbole, but my estimation of the consensus of this board is that no-one believes Wickham is any kind of world beating messiah but has shown glimpses of promise in his cameo roles to date, and in a team bereft of ideas and passion, with too few striking options, it was unwise to send him out on loan and all evidence so far points to him being no worse than Graham and therefore deserving of some substantial playing time so we can see if we really do have a diamond in the rough here or just a lump of coal. This also happens to be my own view too! Either way, as I stated many times, bringing on a striker in the dying minutes of the game and expecting an instant impact is the action of someone who is either desperate or idiotic or both.

Given we needed a goal who would you have brought on?

He should have took graham off for wickham, brought McClean on for Johnson. But not, he brings in McClean for graham, waits 10 minutes then brings wickham on for Johnson :lol:

Even without all that nonsense, the change needed to be around 65 minutes when it was clear we weren't scoring.

to give wickham(or any striker for that matter) anything less than 20 minutes to get into the game is bewildering. 7 minutes seems ridiculous on the face of it.

if he was replacing an injured player or at the very extreme reacting to an opposition substitution/tactic fair enough but i'm 95% certain it wasn't. i'm giving MON the benefit of the doubt with the other 5%. thats all it is though, 5 per f**king cent.

This......the substitutions made no sense at all to me. This was a defining game yesterday......imo,we're now going down with Reading and QPR.

Another defining moment was when McClean was on, Norwich had a corner and at first it appeared O'Neill had shouted McClean over to stay forward instead of defending the corner................. turns out he just wanted a quick chat with McClean and then sent him back to defend the corner. That didn't go down too well.

Turner was run ragged most of the game. Fletcher and Graham would be a canny pairing if they were both on form, some good movement between them let down by bad touches.

McLean was brought on to introduce pace. Swapping either for Wickham wouldn't have made any sense outside of FIFA.

:lol::lol:

Turner was ran ragged !! What game were you watching ??

Wickham, believe it or not, is an England U21 player, has been rated as one of the best in England and played in the U16, U17, U21 teams but NotSpavin has watched him for a couple of hours and thinks he's not worth putting on the pitch against a weary 10 man Norwich team.

Have a word with yourself man !

When Wickham is our saviour, we are in deep shit.

Has an unfortunate resemblance to Kevin Kyle. :-(

  He was smoking a cigar when I was watching.

i wish it was simple for this clueless nacka we have in charge , its as bad if not worse then when bruce was here

How can anyone call MON a 'clueless nacka'?

Don't get me wrong, I'm as pissed off as everyone else with yesterdays performance, but MON's record as a manager clearly shows he is not clueless.

I blame the players just as much as MON for yesterday. Every single one of them except mingolet should be ashamed.

MON takes the blame for yesterday. Vorn and Larsson in central midfield  Fuck me.

Mental. Turner wasn't run ragged in any way, shape or form. He fucked- up for the sending-off, with a shite back header but was largely untroubled. If you can see signs of Graham and Fletcher forming a decent partnership ftom yesterday, you were watching a different game than me
