Brazil complain to FIFA

It's not a joke. What is a joke is the lack of understanding when it's to be used and how.

It's straightforward, the ref is in contact with the var officials.

He is the sole arbitrator on the pitch and var is there to assist him.

If he feels after being asked to check a decision, or var contact him about things and he replies, no, then that is it

Video ASSISTANT referee. It's there to assist and not takeover.

The incidents in the England game were not referred as the referee declared he had seen them and deemed them not a penalty.

That is nothing different to any game in the past, and we all have seen enough of what we thought were pens but the ref didn't.

Yes I understand that but the problem for me is that the VAR have the ability to highlight something that has ‘possibly’ happened so the red can have a second look. The VAR should have highlighted some of the previously mentioned incidents and should have had a look at them.

Personally I think VAR is shit and should not be introduced, it’s simply not possible in my opinion to get every decision correct in way that allows the game to keep flowing in a natural way.

Goal line technology is fine I suppose but my issue with that is it solves an issue when a team score a goal that just went over the line and the ref didn’t think it did.... but what about a situation where the other team score a perfectly good goal but was incorrectly flagged for offside... all this tech does not make it fairer as it now just depends what happens wether the technology helps you or not.

The only thing I could think of for VAR is that it should only be 1 way communication - ref to ask them if unsure on something.. but again it would still not eliminate all issues and still provide advantages to teams depending on what the ref was unsure of.

If we could vote on it I’d vote to shit can all the technology... but I know that’s not going to happen.

VAR Is far too in its infancy to be used in a World Cup!!!

We don't want all talking points to be eliminated. That's part of the game.

The var is not for every single decision made and never was or will be.

It's to assist. The onfield ref decides on its use and then if anything needs to be changed
But he didn’t decide to use it in the French game. The assistant told him he made a mistake and he reviewed it. The ref didn’t decide to review it

How many times.

Opinion decisions are there for the ref. Var is only an ASSIST for crying out loud.

It's down to the onfield ref everything that happens, with var there to assist and help him get more right
So again, I’ll take you back to the France game. The ref didn’t call for a review. The ref was called back to review it. So why wasn’t the Kane incident called back or the Brazil incident called back? You say because the ref decided, but the ref decided no penalty in the France game but was informed otherwise

I f***ing hate VAR with a passion. I used to glance at the linesman to see if he had flagged before going apeshit, now I'll have to wait until I get home to find out the result.

VAR is awful like. It's getting like watching American football with the long stoppages.

It's having a massive impact, there's a penalty in virtually every game

okay, so we all understand that the ref still has the final say...what i want explaining is how fifa can instruct refs that holding/grappling/pushing in the box will NOT be allowed and instructed them to clamp down hard on such things, yet a VAR call to the ref about a blatant foul in the box was ignored without even a check of the monitor.

this one instance shows VAR to be a complete waste of time and money as it is not leading to more consistency from the refs as no matter if they miss it or see it they appear reluctant to take a look and change their decision, only one has done so up till now i believe and there have been plenty of instances where further review was needed.

PS: someone really needs to sit the players down and tell them they cannot request a VAR

I imagine they’re complaining about a push for Switzerland’s goal.
There'll be loads of instances like this. What about defenders wrestling forwards to the floor at corners ala Harry Kane? There doesn't seem to be any consistency between matche and is producing more debate about decisions than without it.

Some felt it wasn't a pen. The ref may have felt the same.

Was it really a penalty ?
In normal play outside the penalty area a player pulls back an opponent, immediate free kick awarded and yellow card for the perpetrator. Why does this not apply in the penalty area? It's total bollocks!

That's because nobody likes us. It's a well worn opinion and at face value sounds pathetic but it's looking more and more like it's true!
it is true.. including plenty of people in England who want the team to fail so the fans get no joy

Trying to put pressure on the refs for the upcoming games. From the Fergie playbook. The ref won't dare to give a marginal decision against Brazil next game.

Brazil complaining that Switzerland's equaliser came from a push, errr Brazil, if you want to see proper pushes/foul play look at England's 2 penalties that weren't given on Harry Kane, then you'd have something to moan about regarding VAR.
!hey appear despite messages to the contry to be ignoring holding of players in the box!going on during all of todays games! ..need to make president and give a pen!

Nowt in the push.

Neymar spent the match going down way to easily and rolling around anytime a Swiss player went within ten yards of him.

He was constantly fouled. But apparently that floats some people's boats.

Personally, I'd much rather watch a skillful player than a fouling one.
