Watching this now on Film4, probably my favourite British film of all time. Classic performances all the way and Postlethwaite's speech at the end is up there with the best.

My best marra's dad passed away some years ago. And because his dad played cornet in the colliery band they played Abide With Me at his house on the morning of the funeral.

Brassed Off hits home like no other film can.

Probably my most watched film of all time, I absolutely love it. When PP died recently some twat on here tried to be clever and stated that he was a ham actor. Watch his performance in this film, he is outstanding. Despite how many times I have seen it, he reduces me to tears on two occassions during the film, every single time I watch it. Brilliant.

There was a complimentary documentary made for the premier of Brassed Off on C4in about 97. Arthur Smith narrated and appeared in it and it focused on Silksworth Colliery Band, it was brilliant, I have it on VHS lurking somewhere in the darkness. Would be great to see it on Youtube though.

You can see me on that documenatry, well my back  my brother and his girlfriend/now wife played for Silksworth and he featured in it a canny bit

He's still got the video of it somewhere I'm sure, I used to have a copy as well
