Boycott's comments on Cook

I think we all want Moores gone, and the combination of him and Cook certainly needs looking at, but despite what you think of Cook as a captain, I thought Boycott's comments about him today were a disgrace, he sounded like a parody of himself, and there was absolutely no need to get personal.

All because Cook made a half-hearted joke about Yorkshire when he was DIRECTLY asked about Colin Graves several times.

I hope someone in the media takes Boycott on, he's an unbecoming dinosaur, who is a joke figure among the players.

It annoys me that the BBC give him a platform, its funny for about 10 seconds and then its just boring.

Someone needs to say you were the most selfish player to have ever played for England, and a f***ing wife beater

Sorry but needed to get that off my chest, hate the bloke.

I thought Cook was stupid and deserved any come-back he received.

But then I'm not a fan.
 
I thought Boycs' comments were fair enough. The Windies, with a fair few of the their better players playing the IPL are mediocre.

Cook has rediscovered his form but he isn't a good captain. Both he and Moores are safety first people, there's no dynamism there. We've saw that all winter with squad and team selections and general approach to the game.

Cook even had the gall to speak up against his dropping from the ODI team when it should have happened far earlier. The fact that Morgan wasn't any better just means he needs dropping too, not that Cook should be recalled.

Have you read them? They are very personal, I am not on about the cricket side of it

Also the bit in bold is a lie, I have explained it in another thread, the ONLY player who would get in the side is Gayle, there is absolutely nobody else, so I am not sure why you and others keep repeating this. Its not true.

The stuff I read on the BBC website seemed OK.

I don't know the full list of players who are playing IPL or those who don't play tests anymore but I would have thought Gayle, Darren Sammy and Sunil Narine would improve the Windies team. They are ranked about 8th in the test list which is very poor for a formerly great test team.

I think this predates the series. Graves didn't need to make the comment about the Windies being "mediocre" there was nothing to be gained by such a statement, it put pressure on England and clearly motivated the Windies. Why not just let them play and maybe comment after the series? His comments added nothing.

I do worry that this is yet another bluff "Yarkshu" man who thinks he can say what he likes when he likes. This, and the KP comments make me worry that he will be a constant mouthpiece of embarrassment for the ECB
 
Cook needs to have a long hard look at himself and his team before he starts making comments about other people. Graves was 100% right to say what he said - we should have beaten that West Indies team easily and having not done so, some serious questions need to be asked. If those are not standards you're happy to live up to, you shouldn't be England captain.

Actions speak louder than words, so let's give him a chance. He should be judged on how the game is moved on/ restructured, rather than any comments.To be fair, he only said what everybody else thought re the Windies. The ECB can't actually get more embarrassing...so he won't have much impact there.
