I said it at the time but shit happens. We are on an upward curve and there will be setbacks on the way but Sunday shows the potential and allows Riveros to bed down to lifestyle/pace of game, allows Bent a day off, allows Mensah to be injured.
The better team comes out on top more often than not and I expect a comprehensive victory in January but as long as we are 12 points ahead come Derby day, I will take a defeat on the chin.
Wrong mate, I can't take any defeat off them on the chin. I was at Wembley in 92 and was nowhere near as pissed off as I was that Sunday, as I've said several times that will go down in their folk lore and they'll rub it in our faces for years to come.
they can rub it in all they want but im very confident of doing them in january so i couldnt give a shit what they say. your as good as your last game and we are going to maul them
I pray your right Jack I'm not that confident. I'ts the attitude of people like Angstrom I find hard to understand, how can being 12 points clear of them atone for them doing the double over us? (unless it means they're relegated)
Neither of us has done the double over the other for decades and if they do it this season I couldn't give a fuck how high we finish, the only thing that could wipe that out would be for us to win the cup.

I live among them and I took their shit BUT I genuinely think we are better. I may be a deluded mackem but we are better. Chelsea showed that.
It was shite in the early 90s when they played a different class of football, but I think we have the structure and personnel to give them a kicking in January and finish way above them. BUT i understand sometimes teams don't turn up and if we don't thrash them but still finish way above them, that will do for this season, not brilliant but it will do. It will hurt but, to me, it isn't the end of the world. I know I'm in a minority, but the Chelsea game was more significant than the mags for me.
aka WimbletoonAs I said to the Phantom I hope to fuck you're right about January but the style they play is always going to bother us, they're Stoke with different coloured stripes.
The Chelsea result is irrelevant it just shows what we've known for a while we're more than capable of taking on these so called top teams on their own terms.

i just think we are going in the right direction. Chelsea game was the most impressive I've seen Sunderland play for years. It's good enough for me, even if there are setbacks on the way. It is a bit of arrogance, I suppose. i just don't see them as good as us.
Man for man they aren't but they do well with what they've got and for some reason we've always struggled with teams that play that style If I remember rightly nearly all of Watfords goals in our 8-0 humiliation came from headers from set pieces (Blisset got a f***ing hat trick).
It was the same against the scum, will we ever f***ing learn.

They are not like Stoke. They do play it direct but in a far more skillfull way than Stoke. I f***ing hate stoke
