what do people think of kallis then I know its not as good this days but what a record he has
Kallis has fantastic stats. My old boss was a South African cunt cricket fanatic and was always going on about how good "Jark" was. Many a meeting was taken over by him going on cricinfo and comparing Kallis with Flintoff

yes only 33 whether you a batter or allrounder is average

Is it? How may all-rounders with over 1000 runs and 100 test wickets have better? I have no idea but I'd be amazed if his stats weren't up there with the best. Apart from Kallis who is head and shoulders above the rest I'd guess.

Here is a list of the greatest all-rounders of all time

Just had a quick look through and his batting average is only lower than Sobers, Kallis and Khan so far.

Average

I meant on batting alone which it is

no comparison

People get too hung up on stats - he was a top drawer batsman, never played for his average, changed games and 34 or so for a number 6 in an era with slow outfields, long boundaries, more lively wickets, less heavy bats was pretty damn good.

no one has come close to botham for england imo. i only saw him live near the end but his peak years were fantastic. flintoff had a similar affect on the aussies in england but botham did the business everywhere bar against the windies.

my all time favourite player

The lying get told me it was "a special time. The birth of a county" - it wasn't 'til I read his 2nd book last year that I realised......
He pan us in his book like or just admit his stint here was a farce?

Beefys stats are brilliant considering he played test cricket at the very best era...

The lads these days with stats through the roof are laughable, playing against complete garbage considering the quality of test cricket in the 80s & even early 90s

Packer was nestled into that not long after he started tho m8.

Botham was a fabulous fast swing bowler who got a reputation as a bit of a hitter. But his batting technique was so much better than that. You watch him playing for Somerset when Andy Roberts had removed his front teeth in about 1975. He was a really technically correct batter. Watch the 142 he scored against the Aussie in 1985 in Brisbane and tell me he wasn't a top class all rounder. He might have extended his career too long, but even then everyone was terrified of the Botham factor. Kapil Dev, Hadlee, Imran never had that. Best English all rounder by a mile. Kallis has great stats but he never had the charisma of Both.

“On my return to England in the spring of 1992, I changed county for the second and last time in my career. I had achieved real success in my five years with Worcestershire; it was a great team with a fabulous team spirit, and my decision to give that up in exchange for a move to Durham was one of the worst mistakes I ever made. On the surface there were great attractions in going there. Durham was a new side in the County Championship and full of ideas and ambition, and the prospect of playing home matches only an hour’s drive from where I lived was extremely appealing; it felt like I was finally playing at home for the first time in my career. I had actually been offered the captaincy as one of the inducements to join the county in the first place, but when I later met Geoff Cook, the director of cricket, to confirm the details of my move, he told me that he had already promised the captaincy to David Graveney. I was not happy, but there was nothing I could do about that decision, so I shrugged my shoulders; [\i]

I know im young and naïve but I don't get it.

well the bowling attacks he faced were a country mile better than the plodders these days so an average of 33 then is maybe more comparable to a 38-40 now.. which is probably more acceptable to you.

re the bat one time he was that pissed he wandered out to the crease without a bat.
