Boro got 7,200 tickets

As much as I would like to see the away supporters moved I think for games like this the proposed move to North Upper is impractical.

It only happens for cup games and its not very often the away team will bring that anyway so its not and shouldnt be a consideration in shifting away fans.............

(iv) The Visiting Club shall be responsible for the payment of all tickets asked for and
allotted, unless otherwise agreed between the Clubs in writing with a copy sent to The
Association. All questions in dispute shall immediately be referred to The Association.

If Boro want 7000 tickets, let them have them - as long as they pay for all 7,000 tickets.

It's a cup final for them.

Please please , not this again.
It's a game to look forward to , it's local-ish so it's got a bit of spice (together with the "crowd trouble" history between the 2 clubs) , and we haven't played each other for a couple of years - but it's not our "cup final" ffs - we'll be playing that in May;).

Seriously , it's a match to look fwd to (for both teams) , but it's nowt major to us (honestly).
It's a chance for us to pit ourselves against supposedly superior opposition , as Mowbray said - we have nothing to lose.

ganna get me ticket on thursday can't wait its gonna b a spicey affair itl be my 1st f.a cup match since blackburn 0-0 hope me seat isn't taken though

They've struggled to sell out at the SoL in recent years. I'll be surprised if they bring over 5k.
I only hope our own fans take this game seriously and turn up in their numbers as Boro will have an advantage if they have a load of away fans and we have a poor showing ourselves.

All boro season ticket holders i kno are goin and twice as many wantin to go who dont have season tickets. few of them reckon they will struggle to get any. i still think the allocation will be closer to 5000 for policing reasons

Yes you do.

According to the middlesbrough gazette , boro will get 7,200 tickets (15%) IF the police allow it.
It's certainly not definate yet , as far as i know.

Middlesbrough highest attendance this season 27794 Hull City(2011-12-26)
Average attendance 18164

i think it'll be around 4,000 tickets which is twice as many as boro usually bring.
this should be achievable to sell and not put boro at too much financial risk.
its a manageable number and the police should be able to provide adequate protection.

That's fair enough. Cup derby odds would suggest little value on the boro but it'll be interesting to see the bookies odds. Certainly no pundit will expect you to get anything out of the game. Local pride will be hurt (and I meant cut to shreds) if your side don't show up but that's all.

Middlesbrough's a lot smaller than Sunderland , and you also have quite a catchment area too.
Boro fans mainly come from the immediate Teesside area , plus a few from east cleveland (Redcar,Saltburn etc).
So really , our crowds aren't THAT bad.
I remember Sunderland getting around 14,000 regularly at Roker park in the old 2nd division.

Providing we play a full strength team, we really should win this game. Under Bruce, it would be a defeat, but O'Neill has turned the same squad of players into super men it would seem!

Remember years ago you were averaging over 30000 when Ravanelli played?

I certainly remember standing in Roker when 20000 was a decent crowd.

Our average is around 18,000 i think.
The 30,000 thing was annoying really.
All these dick-eds turning up outta the blue to see our team of all stars in a posh new stadium - stopped the REAL fans from getting in!!
Now the novelty's wore off and we're back to our hard-core support.

Of course. But needs to be treated professionally as well. Anything but a win for us will see an explosion of asti spumanti corks flying all over Teeside.

This apart from Northumbria finest able to provide adequate protection

to be fair there's not too many teams between boro and leeds/york area so thats a decent catchment just for starters. I always reckoned the pocket from boro round to redcar should be and probably is your heartland.

most of sunderland's outlying areas are in direct competition with our main rivals but south of boro you should be way ahead but i honestly don't know if you are.

I think you'll find when we were getting 14k or whatever at roker football attendances in general were in a bad way and most other clubs in similar positions couldn't get near to that. i can't really bothered to check just to score points but wouldn't really like to see boro's worst crowds from that period.

But surely you want to see the stadium full again? It can;t be much fun watching Boro in a half empty stadium.

If you win promotion, how many do you think will come back to watch the team in the premier league?
