Borini

I'm only picking on you because you were the last to post about this but I hope you and all the people complaining about us spending £14m on Borini are not the same people who were complaining about the free transfers we brought in.

Borini was always going to be worth more to us than other teams because he has the benefit of knowing the team and the system we play and being a huge fan favourite. He won't need any settling in time so he should hit the ground running. You shouldn't underestimate the value of this given the number of changes we will be making this window.
I understand that he knows our system etc already but he just doesn't have the talent or the goals to be worth that much.

Borini will be f***ing great for us, again. Him and Wickham for me please, to start with.

Borini will be the best signing we've made in a long long time. Good players cost good money, very good players cost more and he is very good.
What did he do that was very good?
Many on here overrate him just because he scored against the mags and man city.
How many goals did he actually score last season that weren't penalties? £14m worth?

Totally idiotic comparison.

They will be playing in different positions

One is 23, one is 30/31

One would come here, the other wouldn't.

How?

8m for a player with maybe a maximum of 2 seasons or 14m for a player with his career ahead of him and is likely to improve. Totally valid comparisons especially when Borini is the better player.

I thought you were saying we should have signed lambert, apologies, been plenty saying we should have bought Remy etc.

How much do you think he is worth?

This. Absolutely delighted if he comes no matter the fee. Works well in gus system and will be a goal threat next season. He is a player who can take us to the next level.

From what we seen of him last season I would have personally offered £8m max and if they refused then look elsewhere.
I honestly don't think he was that good last season just scored against the right teams to make him liked.

That's a good question, I'm not sure how people come to these conclusions about what a players worth but they always seem pretty sure about it. Players are like any other commodity aren't they and they're worth whatever someone is willing to pay?

I would happily give two Gardners for a Borini.

Tbf though, when players like McCormack are going for £11m and Valencia for £16m ish. It will obviously skew and inflate the market. £8m for Livermore and £8m for snodgrass is another example.

He scored big goals in big games of course that made him liked.

Borini's worshipped by Sunderland fans, and rightly so. He scored same as Lallana last season, and is 5 years his junior. £13m difference.

good point made there like
Apart from the fact hes 3 years his junior............;)

Lallana ain't 28 though

I honestly couldn't give a deluded, shiny fuck about what he cost (which for the record was a fair price, we've seen many comparisons so lets keep it real ;)).
Fabio is young, talented, vibrant, skillful, hard working and a firm fan favourite - and from what I can tell, he actually wants / has a desire to play for us
I'm delighted, the thought of someone else snaffling him up doesn't bear thinking about, I'm glad we went in and paid what we had to to secure the fellas services next season - gerrin !
