Borini

He's only 23, got his best years ahead of him, he played wide most of the time but looked good up front when he got chances. His workrate was excellent even at the end of the season when he could easily have hidden as many loan signings seem to do at the end of their spell.

Aye he's cost more than we expected but the market is frothy this year. If hed gone elsewhere for £14m this place would have been in meltdown due to lack of ambition.

There's noway we'll end up paying £14M,that will be the fee after all add ons are complete - a feat rarely achieved by clubs like Sunderland.

I suspect it will look something like this:

Initial Fee: £8M

25 league appearances: £500,000
50 league appearances: £500,000
75 league appearances: £500,000
100 league appearances: £500,000

10 league goals: £500,000
20 league goals: £500,000
30 league goals: £500,000
40 league goals: £500,000

1 Italy Cap: £250,000
10 Italy Caps: £250,000
Selection for Euro 2016 final squad (Italy): £500,000

Domestic Cup win: £500,000
European qualification: £500,000

14 million, umm yeah. That's too much even if it were in dollars. I know many here love him but that's way overpriced for a limited player. Sunderland will have ended up paying 2 million per goal is my guess and that's not counting wages. Liverpool made out like bandits here.

Rumors about Tim Cahill being interested in Sunderland too.
2 million per goal???? Celebrate him coming man - he's awesome

Did you watch us at all last season?

We don't play with an out and out striker who offers nothing except goals, which is what Bent was. We play with a front three who are all expected to chip in.

It's amazing how quickly posters have shifted from "spend some f***ing money" to "that's too much" in a matter of minutes. Anyone would think they just like to moan.

He got seven goals from playing out wide. AJ got eight.
Pretty much confirms you didn't watch us last season. He will play the same role on the left of the attacking three. He will not be expected to score 25 goals except by people who don't understand the system we play or how much 25 goal a season strikers cost.

Only player to get over that last season was Suarez.

Can't believe Ellis wasn't going to stump up 70 mil and 200,000 grand (guess, probs more?) a week wages, the tight asset stripping ****, and is only prepared for the club to spend 10/12 mil rising to 14 mil on a player who is an excellent professional according to Gus, works his arse off, has good technical ability, already knows the club and his role in the team, scored some important goals, and has room for improvement.

Ellis oot.

I dunno man. I'm only 26 but I remember as a kid wanting to play 'as' someone ... Philips, Healy, Whiteside, Best, sometimes McGrath (I'm from the north of Ireland) ... and like, looking at football now, who'd want to be a failed Mod Scouse ballbag like Gerrard? Who'd want to be air-muscles shit-tats rapey-haircut Conor Wickham? But when I see Borini celebrate a goal I remember why I would've loved to be a footballer. He's spot on mate, I'd have bought him for 20 mill.

Not doing the Yank stereotype any favours there pal

Score ten, create easily as many and have the sort of off-the-ball impact that will result in another ten. Fucker's a legend and I love his beautiful man-ness.

This would represent a massive step up for him..... how many assists last year? don't get me wrong I really hope to be proved wrong but there is nothing in his stats to date to suggest this
