Borini

Think he'll get a bit of a nudge from upstairs and it'll all turn fairly quickly. Rogers is acting like most managers. Every member of their 67 man squad is their favourite. FSG won't want him to ignore that sort of money for a player he'll hardly use.
You'd think so but Rogers has had a nudge and stood his ground. Money isn't a problem at Liverpool at the moment if it was I'm sure Brenda would be acting differently. He is very loyal to Fab.

I have no issue with Borini wanting to stay and fight for his place at Liverpool. However I would expect him to have the common decency to tell Sunderland outright rather than have his agent talking to Italian Journalists
Does that still give me some hope? I suppose it does, but this needs resolving by the end of this week as far as I'm concerned. Let's be honest, Congerton will have a plan B to fall back on, it won't be as if we would need to start from scratch, but we are almost at the end of July and we can't keep saying , "plenty of time left". We also have plenty of work to do

This transfer obviously isn't going to conclude quickly but there's no reason we can't crack on with the other positions in the meantime. Get the defence & midfield sorted ASAP & I'll be a lot less nervous about us waiting for a final decision on Borini.

I don't think he even knows what his decision is yet. He wants to play for Liverpool, but Liverpool have just shown that they don't really want him... Not the easiest of decisions for him to make now. Do you prove yourself? Do you just accept it and move on?

According to some Rodgers wanted rid of Henderson, Henderson chose to stay and is now a regular. Maybe Borini feels he's capable of the same.

That is what gives me a little hope, it's just the time-scales as far as I'm concerned, he can hang on longer than SAFC can afford to.

At £14m we could easily get a player at or probably above Borini's quality, so the one good thing to come out of all this is that we do appear willing to spend a few quid this summer. If he does turn the move down it could work out well for us if we're willing to invest big money on individual players still

As a matter of interest - who could we 'easily get' ?

There's always the assumption that we can only do one thing at a time, that once we reach negotiations we're locked into a room until they're concluded. There's nothing to stop us from getting on with other transfers.

Who knows with Rodgers... after watching some of that "Being Dippers" series, you would have thought Jonjo Shelvey was his second son that he'd never part with... but biznich is biznich...

I don't mean other transfers, I mean option B if Borini doesn't come

Nothing to stop us from looking into that as well. If we were to sit around for a month waiting for an answer, fine that would probably give us problems, but in a week you can do all the groundwork on another transfer and then see where you are.

Surely whether we get borini or not could have an impact on who else we are targeting. Can't imagine that £14m is anything other than a big proportion of our transfer budget.

I remember when Nugent fucked us around. Keane didn't take long to drop the idea and move on. I'm sure the club will have set their own deadline where we leave this well alone. Would love to see the fella back though!
