Borini

Not worth £12m for me.

I'd love him back make no mistake but doesn't score enough goals for £12m

Take emotions out of the equation and his actual value is probably £7 - 8m.

If Danny Graham is worth £5m and Altidore £6.5m then £12m is a fair reflection of Borini's worth imo.

The bin-dippers obviously don't rate him that much, if the same can be said for the club then we should get him for less than that, and with Lambert and possibly Lallana joining we've got a good chance.

I would definitely sign him if we can.

The club that spent £35m on Andy Carrol and then failed to play a style that exploited his talent is bound to have a skewed view on transfer values.

Altidore has turned out to be a pile of cack so his transfer fee is hardly a good indicator what another player is worth.

£12m for a quality young footballer who appears to actually enjoy playing up here seems ok to me.
Most players take time to settle etc but this won't be a problem.
£25m for Lallana might set a benchmark for prices this summer.

In my opinion he's got all the attributes we need in attacking midfielder / striker. He's quick, gets stuck in, good shot and he just keeps going and going. Gives his all every game.

Pay the money and get him in if we can.

Really like Borini and would be happy to see him here again. However I do worry that we'll be lacking a bit of magic if he is our big signing for the summer. Can we rely on Johnson to be the only one who'll beat a man and give us a spark against a packed defence?

£12m is nothing in footbal terms these days, if he is successful and if we decided to sell we'll make a profit on him otherwise we'll have a very good player on our hands for a good few years.

It is a lot for a club like ours who continue to make losses and are wanting large changes. Getting him for somethin around 9m would be better business

Adding someone like banega to our midfield would add that extra bit of bite in terms of creativity along with borini and johnson. Id be more than happy there

But you can't set fees with hindsight......he was valued at £6.5m by the club. Given what Borini has already achieved in the game and his age (23) £12m is a very fair assessment.....as was the last £12m player we enquired about but didn't follow through with a bid (James McCarthy). I doubt we'll pay the fee this time either but someone else will and get themselves a very good player.

Does borini actually want to come here?

I think if he had a better option then no but I don't think he'd be averse to joining us if terms were acceptable and there was a willingness by the club to show some ambition.......as opposed to the cost-cutting of last summer.

it depends on what Poyet's transfer budget is, I read in the Guardian that it was 30 million. If thats the case then safc need to barter Liverpool down to around 10 million. He was one of our better players and if the club can't bring betters in then its going to have to pay above the odds. Spend some of that TV money.

I love how fans say "he is not worth...."

How do you know what a player is or isn't worth? It is all relative to the length of the contract and how much a club wants a player. A player is worth what a club is prepared to pay.

We have no idea on what our budget or how many players poyet wants either. How can you judge how much in percentage of budget we should be allocating.

I appreciate this is a forum so discussion is necessary but fuck me it's not football manager

We won't be paying anywhere near that cash like.
deals are never as simple as oh here's a12 million sum and then he's ours,
its usually broken down into staggered payments,
ala stoke for kenwynne jones, supposedly paid 8million for him yet only paid 2 million over 4 seasons, so we could easily broker something for borini if we wanted to

Wipe off 12mill & give us BORINI
