gus poyet's opinion means fuck all to me like.

Brendan Rogers obviously didn't rate him either, despite Liverpool struggling for goals at times last season.

He played really well at times for us but we've bought Lens for that role. We're not in a position to throw £7m at a player not guaranteed a starting place - we've done that too many times before.

The money left in the kitty will surely be earmarked for a central midfield player and then if we can offload one or two forwards a more prolific striker.

Being offered to Leicester and Villa at 7 mill according to sky sports gossip

Surely if we offered him a contract he'd come to us over that shite. No brainer really, quality with a great work ethic, and scores goals
Liverpool are a set of cheeky bastards. Wanted to rip us off to the tune of £14m last season and now he is half that.

We did like, the 500+ threads on here would back this up

You trust reading shit on here?

The fact two (or three) other players who turned us down who play in that position between having the bid accepted and the end of the transfer window tell us something different. The fact we panicked and brought in Alvarez who we thought could maybe cover that role also told us something different. The fact we spent the money earmarked for Borini on Rodwell also told us we weren't really wasting all summer on him.

Poyet did play it up in the media, but no one was listening to the people on here who after a week or two of having that bid accepted, told us we were no longer trying to sign him permanently. Too many people got caught up in the hysteria - even towards the deadline we weren't really involved as Liverpool were trying to almost force him out. We simply hoped a loan would materialise if Liverpool couldn't shift him.

. Borini was given several games upfront at one point and only really looked capable in the final for a while.

My point exactly. We've spent money on Lens to fill the wide left role and Borini isn't a centre forward. Good player but not what we need right now.

They won't be able to run rings round Advocaat imo ......... the club seems to be undergoing a positive change.
If we can appoint another steady intelligent manager next time we could really start to build something here.

i'd rather have borini in the side ahead of johnson but if the worst happens with johnson we'll be starting with buckley....

whatever rogers' opinion of him i have seen him turn out for sunderland and look very decent. two quick and hardworking players like lens & borini either side of defoe or wickham sounds a good top three to me.

i'd like a good central midfielder anarl, still got the two loans to use...

Poyet for me was up to no good he knew the fans wanted him, he wanted him but new it was a long shot, he had an agenda against congerton he wanted to be the big cheese, the more he went on about it the more pressure he put on Congerton to deliver the undelivable. He knew the fans were behind him after saving us the season before.
Absolutely spot on

Villa are the same size club if not bigger than us. Playing for either of us would most likely end in a relegation fight again just like previous seasons.

He will go to who offers him the most money, Don't kid ourselves thinking he would like to come back.

Glad you've realized!

The lad shone in a pile of shite. He isn't even that great to be honest. But as he played for us once we have to sign him...

He tries hard and fist pumps I guess. And obviously he's better than what we have.

this is the relevant part.

doesn't matter what the records and stats show, my eyes told me he looked a good player in our side. for 7m it would be daft to not try and sign him.

Spot on. The lad said he wanted to go back to Liverpool and fight for his place when he was here. Played a huge part in keeping us up, lad worked his bollocks off, don't get why people get so upset that he didn't want to come. Was not a huge surprise! If 7 mil is true. Someone is getting a very decent player for that price. I would take him back in a heart beat. Christ if Swansea are f***ing stupid enough to give us 4 million for Fletcher, give it to Liverpool with another 3 and we have improved ourselves

Defoe, but I would play Borini through the middle before any other striker at the club. There was a fair few fans wanted the lad played through the middle when he was here
If people believe he isn't good enough for us or not what we need that's their opinion. No problem. Although i disagree mind.
What I don't understand is the ridiculous posts claiming they wouldn't want him because he turned us down last season! What a bunch of Bairns!

He had his chance,We Are. Sunderrland.....

Sorry to tell you but we will be quite a long way down a lot of players wish lists I'm afraid. . Henderson wanted to be away if you remember. In a few years time would you not want him back here for that reason?

I agree. Why some hold it against him, that he wanted to try and show what he could do at a higher level first, I find odd tbh. It hasn't worked out, so I would still have him back here tomorrow. He gave us some of the best moments we've had in years and gave his all when he was here. This Fuck him, he can Fuck off and even knackers a saying they hate him . f***ing pathetic and they need to get a grip.

So you really hold it against him because he wanted to see if he could make it at Liverpool, over signing for us? Haway man.
