Borini.... I know I know

Our priorities are central midfielder and a striker if we get rid of Fletcher and or Graham.

Borini isn't good enough to play as a central striker and therefore I'd say he's no longer a target for us.

Oh and he also made it abundantly clear last year.......

HE DOES'NT WANT TO COME HERE
He a greedy player NO

If that was really the kind of money Borini wanted, my thoughts were he was pricing himself out of a move on purpose, he could never in a million years command that wage now, after the season he just had, or ever infact

nonsense twice IMO.

he would be the best striker at the club if he joined, would also be the best wing/forward at the club [no idea how lens will fit in, but he was more effective than johnson] so would get into the side every week.

also he didn't want to come here ahead of liverpool or someone of the roma/juve/inter quality. can't blame him. think he might be interested in coming here ahead of leicester/villa though.

definitely should be testing their resolve if true.

nothing to prove he would be better than defoe mind

Was his score record any better than Wickham, never mind Defoe?

Haway man, 'best striker'

Granted he's not but he'd improve us we don't have the coin to bring in someone prolific, an if this Swansea link is not an April fool, for 3 million we would be getting a good player.

Exactly, we've been dog shit for ages now, so dog shit that players would pick Stoke, Swansea, Villa etc. Borini would be a very good signing
We have enough strikers who don't score enough. Given a full season upfront I'd back Defoe, Wickham and even Fletcher to outscore Borini tbh.

It's all about opinions but in my view even Poyet, who at times seem to fawn over Borini like a schoolgirl with a crush, didn't seem convinced Borini could play up front. He had ample opportunity to give him a strikers role and always used him wide left.

He wanted to stay and try get unbridled Liverpool team, I can't blame him for that. It hasn't worked out, so if we could get him a year later for half the price, then happy days. Not sure why there is this animosity towards him. He was on loan here, grafted, played well and scored important goals.

gus poyet's opinion means fuck all to me like.

I liked Borini's work ethic in Poyet's no support for the strikers tactic as he managed to cover both the fullback and get up and support. His goal output was largely inflated by penalties though and his distribution until the final month of the season was atrocious, whether that was down to his own greed or simply not being very good I'm not sure. In his games up front both here and elsewhere I'm not sure he's really done enough to convince he could do really well there long term anyway, hence why he tends to end up being moved wide. I'd much prefer we bought a technically good midfielder, maybe one in the mould of Ki, or if need be a wide right player, but I'm honestly not fussed about Borini. He was made for that left sided role in Poyet's team, but then we've signed a player to cover a similar role in Dick's, so why bother?

Can't stand the kernt. Hope he signs for Villa or Leicester and gets f***ing relegated.

And the club wasted the whole of last years summer transfer window chasing him.

They didn't though. He turned us down, we tried to sign Christian Rodriguez, Vargas and someone else I forgot and ended up spunking the money on Rodwell. Borini was still up a for a loan, Liverpool weren't but wanted him off the books. We then still pursued it believing he'd end up moving one way or the other.

We did like, the 500+ threads on here would back this up

Several reasons for that though. Gus Poyet teams always play with one striker, one winger and one wide forward. Borini being someone who had played the wide forward role already was a good fit, Giacc being injured, Johnson being nigh on useless on the left were other factors, whilst we also had several centre forwards ambling about at the club already in Alridore, Fletcher, Graham, Wickham. Borini was given several games upfront at one point and only really looked capable in the final for a while.
