Borini.... I know I know

The only people who wouldn't want Borini back see the world only through red & white tinted spectacles, taking his decision to try again at Liverpool as some sort of personal slight.

Never gave less than 100%, scored a winner against the mags, scored for us at Wembley, never made any secret of his desire to make it at Liverpool. Would love him back.

Or the fact we've actually signed a left sider, which is the only position Borini has proven himself in? I'm not fussed, I like his work rate and he's a brilliant penalty taker, but we also saw he doesn't seem at all suited to a loan strikers role.

Lens can play either side, up front or even behind a striker.

I don't buy that. Why would the club keep talking about the possibility of a transfer since there was a clear "No"? Makes no sense.

Borini was still open to a loan, but didnt want to join up permanently. Liverpool were trying to force him out whilst they were also buying other forwards. He didn't delay anything.

He's a left sider mate, regardless of the positions he's occupied on occasions. Signing him to play there and playing him elsewhere, then signing someone else to play there given the lack of quality in our squad is just asking for trouble.

I think he proved quite effective as a loan striker.

It brings a new meaning to the classic TV series The Loan Ranger,
Sounds like a wonga advert.

Quite versatile then! did he not score from the right against City

Being offered to Leicester and Villa at 7 mill according to sky sports gossip

Surely if we offered him a contract he'd come to us over that shite. No brainer really, quality with a great work ethic, and scores goals

Would love to see Borini back, he's pure class and a joy to watch him play.

What makes you think that? He'll be confident in himself, as most will be. He done well here, gave his all and was our best attacker. How anyone can hold staying at Liverpool over signing for for us is bizarre.

He found his feet and his level here and played well for half a season. He gave it the billy big bollocks and warmed the bench for the season at Liverpool. His choice, wrong one though wasn't it?

based on what?

Thinking he could get a first team place over (or even alongside) Sturridge, Ballotelli and Lambert.

He hardly got a start when 2 of the 3 were injured and when he did he was largely shite. He got the same amount of red cards as he scored goals

He's got a far better touch for a start. Got more pace and is a better finisher.

If we're talking about Wickham, he might have a better touch and more energy and is more alert, Borini quicker over short distances, not be much in it pace wise at full speed.

Obviously Borini was supreme at penalties, not sure about better finisher as Wickham generally gets himself in a poor position having made the wrong choice, then shoots. On some occasions he's looked a natural finisher, but last season he missed some relatively simple ones. Borini just used to shoot from anywhere having held onto the ball too long for the vast majority of his time here, some went pretty close but rarely did they go in.
