Borini - £10 million buy out clause

Sitting out his contract and drawing a wage from a club that have no intention of playing him. The height of altruism.

Perhaps he has faith in his ability and thinks he can eventually make the team?

He may be misguided, but Henderson was in a similar position stayed put and made it.

Transfer Deadline Day sums it all up. They present the fact that £800,000,000 has been spent as brilliant news, as it's it's Comic Relief or summat.

I wonder if they do this in Germany or Italy?
No way will they do it in Germany, they never seem to talk about wealth.

Totally different situations. When Rodgers came in, he had to make quick decisions about who to keep and who to sell and Henderson had been crap under Dalglish.

In the case of Borini, he has worked with him in training for years, and clearly doesn't want him.

Do you know this for a fact or just following the speculation in the news? I believe the QPR story but if he held out for £90k from us then why would Poyet still think we had a chance? It doesn't add up.

QPR offered him £65k/week which he refused. They leaked this and that he was asking for £90k.
We offered him parity with our top earners (which I think are generally known to be AJ, JoS and Brown at around £55k-£60k).
Whether he was holding out for £90k from us (or a little lower) I have no idea.
I think his agent wanted to play some brinkmanship with Liverpool to get a loyalty payment or otherwise a reduction in the headline price with this added to his wage. They held firm and will now look at it again in January.

I'm not that bothered with how the club played all this to be honest. What I can't for the life of me understand is how we failed to get a 2nd domestic loan lined up. That just seems inexcusable.

Still in January I'd imagine we'll use up the 2nd loan slot and be also looking for another striker...

There's no suggestion at all that he turned us down on the basis of wages. It's pure speculation.

Henderson hadn't been crap at all.
You're right, he had trained with him for years, which is why he bought him in the first place.

Question should be asked why we chased his signature for weeks
The club aren't obliged to give you an answer though, unless you're a major share holder of course? Just because we're paying customers of a business, it doesn't give us the right to demand we should know the ins and outs of everything the board does.

Well given our known wage cap is around £30k less per week than QPR leaked he wanted, it's not the most 'out there' speculation is it?
If we offered £90k/week he'd hardly have been pissing around at QPR on the last day when they were only prepared to pay £60k would he? They're no more attractive than us...

If he had asked for £90k a week from us, we'd have said no - instead Poyet said he was hopeful a deal would be done for weeks and that we "knew where Borini stands". Either Poyet was flat out lying or Borini never asked for £90k a week from us because it would have been an instant deal breaker.

One of the best posts I've read on here, I doff my cap!

What a load of tosh.........wage cap 30k, shouldn't believe everything Fred tells you down the clerb, so you think Johnson, Rodwell, JOS are piss farting around at Sunderland on 30k a week?

Just heard that amongst Borini's demands of £95,000 a week, severance pay from Liverpool he also insisted QPR insert a buyout clause of £10 million In his contract! No wonder Fernandes pulled the plug!

No one actually knows what went on , it's all speculation.

I think he's a good player and would have liked to see him stay with us.

However, if he doesn't want to be here move on .

Hmm reading comprehension fail - our wage cap is around £55-60k/week - AJ, Brown and JoS usually said to be there or thereabouts.
QPR claimed Borini wanted 90k/week.

90-60=30

I never said our cap was £30k man - everyone knows we've been paying more than that for years. FFS Teemo Tainu was on £55k/week for us....

Doesn't he have a loyalty payment due in his contract? If he was facing losing that then it's understandable he'd want to make it up elsewhere

When he was supposed to be in talks with QPR he was favouriting tweets about Coates, he had no intention of joining them or us, he'll be gone by January if Liverpool don't have an injury crisis.

Err aye he had. Ask any Liverpool fan for their 2p.

Rodgers bought Borini for LFC on back of his performances at Swansea, now no longer wants him. I'd call that a fairly well considered opinion.
