Borini - £10 million buy out clause

All clubs have been alerted by his greed this window, I'd be surprised if he gets a better offer than what he's on now for the remainder of his Liverpool career.

Just heard that amongst Borini's demands of £95,000 a week, severance pay from Liverpool he also insisted QPR insert a buyout clause of £10 million In his contract! No wonder Fernandes pulled the plug!
Nice player but has overvalued himself in the market place. Bad advise around him. In two years he will head back to Italy.

I just don't think he wanted to join QPR, like. He can wait 4 months doing nothing and picking up £40k a week and move on in January.
this. Liverpool accepted the offer meaning he had to speak to them, probably hoyed in some daft request he knew they wouldn't go for. as for us, he may well have wanted to come back(we'll never know), but his lass is most likely pulling the strings the dirty scouse hooowa.

I'm not sure what or who to believe about all of this, as a player I like him and he was a very good fit for our team.

What this saga does highlight though is the problem caused by having domestic leagues where certain teams CAN win things in the future and the rest of the teams simply CANNOT. This means that ambitious players who want to win something simply will not go to the clubs that cannot win anything and that only serves to make the gap between the two types of club even larger.

I'm sick of the notion in football which is "we've got a good product so let's not spoil it by trying to make it even better !"

My definition of a league is a group of teams playing each other to try to finish top of that league - that's not what we've got or Spain, Italy, Germany etc etc etc.

I think you're missing the point over the wages. If, for example Roma came back in for him, do you think he'd ask for the same amount he was asking from QPR?
If he's looking for a move to a big Italian club, he'll get it.

He's a young lad with one international cap against USA so not an established star in Italy. The likes of Totti and Tevez are on about £90k a week so I personally doubt he'd get what he's currently on at Liverpool.

If this is true I really don't understand who he thinks he is.

He had a decent season last year for us, no more.

His work rate was his best asset and the reason he was as liked IMO.
Even if this story is true, that was to join QPR, not us.

Maybe that's so we could buy him, and he only wanted the extra money so for the next few months he can have the paycut he'd take at safc subsidised.

Why can't people just accept that Fabio Borini has confidence in his ability and believes that he can play for a club that will do more than just fight relegation?

That's the crux of the matter. Simple as that.

Why did Loic Remy have a reasonable fee within his contract for "CL Clubs"? Quite simply, because if one of them clubs had even the slightest bit of interest then he wanted to be able to take that opportunity and not have the club price him out of the move. Similar applies to Borini.

He's not taken the option of staying at Liverpool for the money as he could have earned more from moving. He wants to try and get the chance to prove himself.

Whilst I am on. Jordan Henderson turned down a move to Fulham from Liverpool when Rodgers tried to sell him. He believed in himself...... and just as well he did!!

IMO you're getting too wrapped up in the wages, he askeed for massive wages because he didn't want to go to QPR (and possibly us).
He did well playing up front for a decent Roma side when he was 20 & capped at 21 so he'd get a move back there pretty easy (again IMO)

He intentionally priced himself out of moves because he didn't want to join a Sunderland/QPR from Liverpool. He was obviously holding out for a decent Italian side (or other) coming in for him and if not, he'd stay where he was.

The bloke is delusional if he thinks he'll break into that Liverpool side.
Strange thing is Italian clubs don't offer the same wages as English - hence us signing Giacc. It comes across that his ego has got out of control. Shames as he's a canny player. He's in danger of going backwards in his career.

I don't think he did either, I think he just said it will cost you 90k for me to give up on Liverpool , if you want me that much this is what you will pay , good luck to the lad , he's got ambition

he is only in demand due to the season he had with us, by Christmas that will have been forgotten and teams will be bidding for a Liverpool reserve player, he is going to have to lower his aspirations in terms of salary etc come January!

and to think hje was still on our bench in October.

I've heard he was on £48k/week at Liverpool and was offered £52k/week by QPR. Based on the last time they were in his league and signed all the overpaid lazy arses going, QPR are probably seen as a bit of a soft touch by agents and players.

Too low. QPR and us both offered him £60k/wk plus.
He held out for £90k.

No idea what he's on at Liverpool but I'd assumed £40-50k per wk as he's only a squad member and was very young when they bought him...

This - and why would anyone blame him for that?

Who is he going to join in January who didn't want him now?

He's surplus to requirements at Liverpool, and if you leave Liverpool under those circumstances you're going to end up at a lesser club or in a lesser league.

There are 3 tiers in English football imo - the top 7 (City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, United, Spurs, Everton), the middle lot (most of the league) and the fodder (currently Burnley, Leicester, arguably Villa).

He's a middle-lot player. If he doesn't fancy us and expects to be compensated heavily for stepping down to a QPR, I think he's options in England are near zero.

He could move to Roma or one of the Milans, but that's because it's a much weaker league.

If he wants £90k pw, he'll should give Gyan a bell.

I know you're not comparing them as such, but have a look at Remy's record...

Disappointing the way it all turned out but there was always a sense of inevitability about it

We move on. Bollocks to him
