Being vaguely serious, it all depends on your shower habits. I served on a couple of smaller RN ships where hot water was an issue so developed an ability to shower, clean, rinse in about a minute! I use communal showers a lot now, work & play(!) & am amazed at blokes standing till they're prunes. Get in, get clean, get out. Encourage it in the kids, it'll save you a fortune.

Run the bath for a similar length of time (10 minutes) but the actual bath time is longer for the bairns.

Surely hot water is needed 24 hours a day, how often you use it will depend on many things.

Wouldn't you just leave it on all day tho? A boiler sitting idle isn't going to cost you much if anything. Will only kick in when hot tap is turned on.
