Stokoe wasn't hounded out though even though we'd just been relegated to the old 3rd division.I agree about some things but we sacked stokoe so people in glass houses and that.
There was no animosity from the fans towards him.

Oh yes. There was virtually a players revolt at the time he was sacked and right in
the thick of it was that twat Shearer.
He wasn't.Robson was a Mackem.
Best manager they ever had or ever will have imo
thisBest manager they ever had or ever will have imo
Wont be a popular view on here but Keegan did an unbelievable job, first time around, despite the money and power he was given. He made the monster that fucks us off so much. so for them gets he was the best they have ever had and hopefully will ever get. The bastardsBest manager they ever had or ever will have imo

Aye he was giving her what for for years wasn't he? I know a journalist who interviewed him and said he thought very highly of himself while in charge of the mags, he genuinely thought he was a management genius, but also said he mellowed considerably towards the end and had a lot more affection for SAFC and in particular Niall Quinn than he did for them up the road, personally I can't say I ever warmed to him, despite the reverence he seems to be held in now, just my opinion. He wasn't.
My Grandad and SBR's dad were best mates, worked together down the pit for 50 years. Philip Robson, Bobby's Dad was B&W as was Bobby. My Grandad was red and white daft.
Always remember my Grandad telling me that Phillip was hard as nails. Never missed a shift in 50 years, worked underground with an arm that he broke the day before.
All I can remember that he had massive ears and was a big Methodist. Bobby was, however very "loyal" to his secretary. Full of energy all of his life.
Agree with the bit about the press. They now eulogise about Robsons tenure as England manager as some sort of golden era. It wasn't. They took the piss out of him as much as they did of Taylor who succeeded him. Robsons club success after England was unexpected and put egg on the face of the English Media who now go on golf days in his memory. Scum. Both the mags and the national press (perhaps even moreso) rewrite their history with Robson.
The build up to Italia 90 was a disgrace.
i dinnar why but i have visions of you sucking on a pipe when you wrote thatAye he was giving her what for for years wasn't he? Always liked him due to stories that i was brought up with. I remember the whole family supporting Ipswich in 1978 Cup final because of Bobby, as they all knew him. I also remember England being shite for most of the 80's despite having some very good players. I remember that in 1990 the players demanded a change in formation, I remember the press attitude to him. I remember that he left this country in 1990 and built his reputation abroad. I remember that he his first couple of years at Newcastle were difficult and they wanted him out. I remember that he built an excellent side up there. I remember that side turning against him as did the fans and the board. And now to criticise or comment is seen as some sort of blasphemy. Great bloke, very good manager. Saint? No.Aye he was giving her what for for years wasn't he? Coming close counts like, e.g. they conveniently forget the throwing the 95/96 point lead, the numerous Champions league chances, the numerous Europa league chances, the all but one time in they have been in the Premierhsip, the couple of cup finals they fucked up,...all in the last 20 year. aye, they are really hard done to, utter Morons.[DOUBLEPOST=1378597649][/DOUBLEPOST]Heard this today .... what a fckn embarrassment they are , the fckn whole fckn lot of them.
Went on about how hard they've had it, with winning nowt for years ,( the daft twat didn't know when they'd last won something ) yet they've consistently had 50,000 every game year on year.
Went on to make a plea to anyone interested to buy out Agent Ashley and get rid of the Cockney Mafia and how the fans would love whoever takes over and that they'd be getting the best fans ever and blah dee fckn blahhhhhh
Then you had Jonny Vaughan and his cronies agreeing how great the kernts are cos theyve won fck all yet the fans stay loyal and so on and fckn so on.
Fckrs make me sick.
I've heard a couple of stories of him not being anything like the lovely bloke he has been depicted as being.
Where I used to work, they had tickets for the 1892 club and used to give them to the best performers each month. This one time, I think they were match-ball sponsors or so something and a young lass (f***ing stunning by the way), who was Newcastle daft - had a picture of Bobby Robson on her desk etc. won the prize. At the post match meal (I think they'd lost), she was apparently shaking with excitement as he walked past and asked for a photo and he told her to fuck-off.
This was for the horse's mouth n'all, she was absolutely devastd when telling everyone the story.
Another time, a good mate of mine was staying in a hotel in the Midlands (they were playing down there next day). Apparently a young lad went up to him on the bar for an autograph and, again was told to fuck off, as he was watching MOTD (source - my mate sitting yards away)
