Super Ted

Striker
Was played on Sunday at Hylton CC between Washington and Dawdon.

Washington won the toss and put Dawdon in to bat and it looked a good decision as Dawdon were restricted to 73-3 until Stephenson for Dawdon then took the game into his own hands hitting an unbeaten 88* supported by Nathan Newton (34) from the other end. Washington, slack in the field with some poor bowling pushed Dawdon towards their final total of 204-7 from the 35 overs. Washington's Stephen King finishing with figures of 2-38 and Andrew Brown 2-35.

In reply Washington went out with an attack minded approach opening the batting with Phil Hooper and Darren Smith who got off to a flyer before Hooper was caught at deep extra cover for just 7. Joe Carroll batting at 3 for Washington, having previously scored 50 against Dawdon the day before grafted hard with Matty Garrod before Garrod was bowled for 23. The game was anyone's as Tom Sproates came to the crease at 5 and grafted hard with Joe reaching 170-4 before Carroll was bowled sweeping against the spin of Stephenson. Good running between the wickets for Washington propelled them into a healthy position before Sproates was caught at mid on looking to hit over the top. Andrew Brown and Andrew Richardson required just 19 with 6 overs remaining and seen the game through hitting successive boundaries meaning the Bob Nicholson trophy went to Washington.

A very good game on Sunday, 409 runs and 12 wickets.

:-)
