Boat Honker

1 ship left and 2 arrived very early morning = horn fest. BBC Emerald taking a fully assembled Liebherr 420 crane to Suriname, Federal Nakagawa arrived from Mariupol with 23,000 tonnes of steel and Boka Topaz arrived for bunkers and mobilisation.

The river and Port have been incredibly busy of late.

do they load them cranes at Leibherr straight onto the boat? i noticed there must have been 10 or more brand spanking new cranes stood in leibherrs yard the other day, and i assume they cant get them out via road, but cant remember ever seeing a ship come up to collect one

No mate, you can't get ships that far up the river. The cranes come down to the Port for load out.

Enjoyed that, in a crane-porn sort of way. Even though, right when the pontoon pulled up at Liebherr, I couldn’t help a little voice in my brain saying ‘I hope they’ve got a crane handy to get it down’...

That aside they also transport the smaller cranes by road from the Deptford plant along then down the High Street..there’s a video of it being done..all the traffic gets stopped and it’s bit of a chew on manoeuvring it down the high street to the docks.
