Blood Test via GP

Might be a stupid question but I'll ask anyway. Can you just request a blood test for general health analysis via your GP? I've never had one but I am 40 this year and definitely feeling more concerned with understanding my health. If I can't get one via GP I'll use a private probably but wondered if anyone had done it.

NHS Health Checks start at age 40. So you should get an invite this year, but you could ask.

I think with most GPs the answer would probably be no, but there is absolutely no harm in asking them. Last time I did the NHS health check it included a blood test, but I think that was just for cholesterol

Never been unwell so it was curiosity for me but they look at family history as well as check blood pressure, height, weight etc. Classed as low risk.
