Don't count your chickens, I think there's a chance it could stay the same.

Just a thought:

Would you object if Ellis Short wanted to rename the SoL to The Lone Star stadium?

I can imagine the cowboy jokes. :eek:

Bent = The Lone Ranger
Gyan = Tonto
:-D

Not that bad a name, but there would be no financial gain in Ellis promoting his own company. I'd imagine it would probably either be one of the clubs sponsors Tombola, S&N(I think they're still the beer provider), Umbro.

We need to improve the brand Blackburn Rovers, she said. The management thus far has done a good job but has not been proactive enough. We are looking to change that.

Doesn't sound too good for Allardyce that like.

The teams could come out on to the pitch to that "I feel like chicken tonight" tune, it's dead catchy and should be good for business.

In an article I read Blackburn were described as "tenants" does that mean that they don't own the land the ground is built on?

I am surprised that the Trust did not put restrictions on renaming the ground.

I also read that as part of the deal the new owners are paying the Trust £1m per year for three years. What's that all about?

No worse than the Stadium of f***ing Light.

I was thinking that like. It is getting ridiculous, these people dont give a flying fuck about any of these clubs and simply want their own plaything- if they cant afford manchester united, just buy some other club and change the stadium name etc. Didnt think i'd hear myself say it (or see myself write it i suppose) but David Ginola had it spot on last night on MotD2, too many foreign owners coming into the game, and a lot of the connection between club and city/ town is being taken away as a result
Aye lets stick with good honest british owners like freddie shepherd or even better ridsdale. Honest and altruistic as the day is long.
Drumaville were 'foreign', NQ is foreign, short is foreign.
Abramovic has hardly let Chelsea down,the 2 main owners of Arsenal are yank/Ukrainian.
Villa's bloke indulged MoN like no other chairman.
But hey these new BRFC owners do have a 'swarthy hue' I suppose....

Oh fuck, you're back again I see ;)
There are bad British owners, but there are also an awful lot of British owners who genuinely care about the clubs and the towns/ cities that they represent. There is now a huge number of foreign owners who are treating clubs like play things- yes, some are running the clubs responsibly, but there are an awful lot who couldnt give a fuck about the clubs traditions and just want to own a "premier league" club as a status symbol.

You must actually have an alarm that goes off every time anyone makes a statement that might be seen as criticising foreigners, its almost as dull as it is predictable. And as I mentioned in my initial post, my opinion is one that is shared by many other people including David Ginola who is, of course, a foreigner. Can you bring yourself to criticise him for holding the very same opinion that I do, or can you only slag off British people?

Lone Star Stadium pfft.

New nickname: Spurs

New name for Premier Concourse: Brokeback Mountain

New name for Family Enclosure: Wayne's World

Every game our players would have a 'mare.

I couldnt care less what the stadium is called. A sponsor could rename it The Dirty Black n White Bastards Arena, as long as they pay for the priviledge it makes no difference.

I'd hate 'Tombola Stadium', but I think some sponsors could be not-so-bad. Mind, we haven't got a 100 years of attachment to the SOL name like some others have.

The Emirates is canny, but thats been the name since day 1.
