Blackburn in for Jon McLaughlin

JMc was one of the main reasons we finished where we did last season and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that we started badly cos he wasn’t playing well and made a few mistakes. He is performing well again now and I dont know if anyone has noticed but he is trying to release the ball a lot quicker now which is helping our play and his distribution has improved; down to the new coach no doubt.

It’s also not as simple as saying just take the money and sign a new keeper or let Burge play. We have a solidish defensive unit at the moment and to bring in someone now may well upset the confidence and understanding between them all. That was one of Ross’s main faults and a reason we didn’t have consistency as he constantly changed personnel so we never got any cliques going between anyone - what I mean by that is knowing what someone is instinctively going to do in any situation or where they are going to be to pass the ball to.

Either let him go at the end of the season or give him a new contract, but please sort it out SD otherwise it’s going to come back and bite us on the arse.

This situation reminds me a little of when maja left, hopefully club could of learned from this however.... i doubt it, what the club have to work out is just how important he is to our promotion push, just like his predecessors of seasons past.

While I think Burge is a good keeper at league one level I think the importance of a settled team means unless Blackburn are willing to pay over the odds for him I would keep hold Jon Mc with automatic promotion in mind

Blackburn a canny move? It's not exactly a great move, playing in front of circa 14k fans. Their attendances are only ever swelled when away fans take the full allocation and I'll be surprised if he wages are much better.
Plus he will be in there as 2nd choice

Lets see if SD has learned from the Josh Maja carry on, surely having a good go at promotion is worth more than what....£250k, we'll get virtually nothing for JMc

And yet morons on here proclaimed Burge was better after those few bad games.

Solid enough but an average keeper, really. I’d just keep him till the end of the season and if he doesn’t want to resign we can sort something else.
