Blackburn in for Jon McLaughlin

11th and 4 points off the play-offs.

It would probably be a canny move for him, to be fair.

Blackburn a canny move? It's not exactly a great move, playing in front of circa 14k fans. Their attendances are only ever swelled when away fans take the full allocation and I'll be surprised if he wages are much better.

I should’ve worded it better.

What I should’ve said was if he was to leave us, Blackburn is probably the best he could get.

This is a reasonable point. He's no better than a bottom half championship quality keeper. There's a reason he's played lower league football all his career. He's not good enough for the higher level, why would it change now?

I think it is a disgrace that they aren't trying to sort out a new contract. Why do they have to wait until after the window, can they only focus on one thing at a time like?

I would have throught it was important to make the player feel wanted and make him feel the club see it as a priority to get it sorted.

Disgrace ? 😂 😂 😂

Some reet drama queens on here.

Disgrace? What if the initial talks didnt go well (as Donald said - I know I know...) due to the fact there was a lot of interest in him during the summer and his agent was trying to drum up interest? You cant offer contracts if agents and the player aren't listening or wanting to talk.

McLaughlin hasnt mentioned his contract until a couple of weeks ago, which surprise surprise co insides with a) donald being under massive pressure and the villain for everything and b) a transfer window.

I look at that and think McLaghlin and his agent are playing the situation for what it's worth.

I just don't like the stance of "we are too busy during January to even think about offering him a new contract". Does it take the entire staff to look at transfers, and sorting out the contract of a league one keeper, who will be on peanuts isn't possible?

Burge hasn't done anything wrong at all
Does that mean I should rate him highly??? Two of my best pals are Coventry season tickets, I've seen him play quite a few times, they were all happy to see him move on. He's rated as pretty average by tgem, McLaughlin is much the better all round keeper, I fear what could happen if we sold him

Yet burge has done nothing wrong and big John has cost us 5-6 goals

True, but It sounds I know a bit more about him than you with all due respect
He may have improved due to our coaching since his move though.

JM should be no.1 for sure but burge in his starts this season looked decent enough.

neither have great distribution sadly

Can we not offer him a sensible deal?

I mean, doesn’t mean he’d take it, I know, but if he isn’t currently the highest paid player barring McGeady, then see that he becomes on par with those, with the promise that on promotion, he gets a significant rise? And then maybe a release clause if we don’t go up?

'Easily replaced', some people seem to have quickly forgotten that Championship season. Also a 32 year old goalkeeper doesn't have 2 years left he could easily have 5 or more.
