Blackburn in for Jon McLaughlin

would rather keep him but if he doesnt sign a contract or offered a one then it would be mad to lose him in the summer for nothing so selling him in january seems the best option for the club'

We just never ever learn man do we. He played well enough last season for us to offer him a new deal then, we never and it’s coming back to bite us on the arse. These amateurs in charge must be so brain dead.

New 2 yr deal with two wage structures depending on where we are next season plus an option to let him walk if we don’t go up this summer. Providing of course he’s not ower greedy and Blackburn don’t offer a mad amount.....are they fighting relegation or chasing promotion or stranded mid table?

11th and 4 points off the play-offs.

It would probably be a canny move for him, to be fair.

It is worrying that this contract situation is still lingering on.
I reckon we're allowing him to move but at the same time would be happy if he stays, and probably earn a new contract if we get promoted. Tough descision for him, amicable result either way for all parties.

I think it is a disgrace that they aren't trying to sort out a new contract. Why do they have to wait until after the window, can they only focus on one thing at a time like?

I would have throught it was important to make the player feel wanted and make him feel the club see it as a priority to get it sorted.

He’s 32 isn’t he? Has he got bairns in school? If so what age? There’s a chance we could be slugging it out with them in 7 months time. if so would their wages be significantly better than ours?

we did offer him a 1 yr extension but his agent didn’t even put it to him. He said something like “come back with a serious offer.”
So we have offered a contract just not the one his agent wants.
If he doesn’t sign the one already offered I’d keep him and lose out on the transfer fee if there is one. He is back in form and we need to keep this defence intact as much as possible between now and May.
Burge would indeed be suitable replacement if he went and like most fans I’d be ok with that. But, I’d keep the defence unchanged as much as possible and do without what would certainly be a very low offer.

I'm not as sold as others on Burge.
Id offer him a new deal with a pay increase as I think he has been good and is good enough for the championship.
If we go up his pay would go up again if not he can have a clause saying he can be sold for 1 mil

What if big Jon has demanded more money? And the club don't think it's in their best interests to do that. His form has suffered as a result he says. Very weak minded, he's a professional who should get on with it.

It's poor that his contract hasn't been sorted, can't blame him for choosing a higher level. But we should take the option that we'll lose him for nowt in the summer, he's starting and the defence looks good for the first time in years.

After offloading Steele onto us, I'd tell them to get fucked.

I think Blackburn would be a poor move for him. We'll be back above them soon enough imo. That said, if we're not willing to offer him a renewed contract it might be his best option.
