Did it a couple of weeks ago up at Nose's Point, one tupperware box made about 6 jars of jam. Pie or crumble otherwise.

Was it on the Sunday. I remember seeing people picking them and thought it seemed to be early. Might have been you. Must been about midday or thereabouts.

No mate, was midweek during the holidays. Funnily enough, any later up there and they tend to start dying off. Mid to late August is best - there's hardly any left now.

Picked loads of apples from local park yesterday, the other half rustled up a decent apple pie, based on that think I have enough for about 30 pies

Found the whole thing very relaxing,bit of rural Durham fresh air and scenery.
