Black cats bar for Preston

gringo purves

Midfield
Morning all. I’m bringing my wife (no) along to the Preston game and the only place I can get three seats together is either pitch side or the black cars bar.
I’ve never been in the BCB; is it worth the extra expense? What’s the atmosphere in there like?

Black cats bar shut down to be re-furbished for the mags, 😈.
not really, if you like a warm place before, at half time, and after the match then it is alright, i believe you now have to pay for food these days and you can order you half time drinks which saves on waiting at the bar but it is it worth it? for a one off game yes.

It's quieter, and therefore easier to get served, than the normal concourse, but the seats are directly behind row 32 in the North Stand, so not really any better for watching the game.

I'd take a free upgrade in there, like season ticket holders used to get, but wouldn't pay any extra for it.

The bait isn't bad mind

You'll enjoy it, I know I do when I go.. Worth the extra? Dunno you'll have to decide that but I like it there.

Mind you did get a free dish of the day when I was last there but apparently now you don't.

Cheers all. I’ll be driving which puts the brakes on the ‘faster pints’ bonus. Reckon I’ll treat us.
If it’s shit, I’ll blame you lot and send you a bill.

Bcb season ticket holder, its relaxed, easy to get served,
Food is still crap even though you pay extra for it now
Will i renew there next season? Probably but its alot cheaper per game than a one off ticket, i certainly wouldnt pay match by match in there

For bringing the Mrs it’s a good choice. There’s a sports bar for drinks before during and after the match so it’s a much less grubby affair for her, and you’re entrusted with an actual glass rather than plastic.

There are nowhere near enough seats in there though, so prepare to stand or perch awkwardly

mind it opens 3 hours before kick off so if you get in early enough you will get a seat, go past the first bar and food counter to the second bar, quieter and nicer toilets right at the far end

Yeah I can never make it that early when I go so I never get a seat as everyone else gets in before me. It is bloody annoying though, like they know exactly how many seats they need to provide but fall short by a fair margin, and it’s not like there isn’t enough space for them.

It is nice to wait out the traffic after full time though, as you get a comfy seat and can just savour a pint whilst everyone else scrabbles around outside of the stadium.

Last time I was in it was like drinking in Brogans. Smelly, sticky carpet with shite beer but the warmth is nice in the winter. This was a few season back now so could have changed.

Or get in at least an hour and a half before kickoff.

Carpet and beer are better. Although they have a tendency to run out of Guinness after the match 😞
